🔬 Emulsion Stability Evaluation – Observational Insight
An oil-in-water emulsion was prepared using high-shear homogenization (Day 0: uniform and visually stable).
Observations:
- Maintained homogeneity for ~1 month
- Subsequent phase separation (oil layer formation) observed
DLS Analysis:
- Z-average ≈ 309 nm
- PDI ≈ 0.53
- Bimodal distribution indicating polydispersity and droplet coalescence
Interpretation:
The system exhibited short-term kinetic stability, but lacked long-term structural integrity—likely due to insufficient interfacial stabilization and broad droplet size distribution.
