Sikaru Learning Expeditions and Habeli Outdoor Learning Centre teamed up to take curious minds from Maitri School on an unforgettable learning journey!

From uncovering the historical richness of Pachmane to exploring the geology of Tarkeshor—rocks, aquifers, and all—students got hands-on with nature. They even built their own terrariums, linking biotic and abiotic components to their classroom learning.

Grateful for a day filled with exploration, reflection, and a deeper appreciation of our National Parks.

Students from Maitri School visited Habeli Outdoor Learning Center and stayed for a night stay as a part of an extended learning program.
They did a wood working session with an experienced wood craft person, talked about different constellations and different mythologies related to stars, learned about the perimeter of a circle and how the rectangle and circle are related.

An exciting day of learning and discovery! Maitri School students visited Basanti Durbar to learn about its role in the KOT massacre and the Rana regime's history. At Habeli Outdoor Learning Center, they explored Morse code and created their own secret messages for wars and trekking. Connecting history and creativity in the best way!

An insightful day with students from Maitri School as we explored two contrasting worlds. From the stark realities of Sisdol landfill, where Kathmandu's waste creates challenges, to the serene beauty of Tarkeshor Mahadev Temple, nature in its purest form. Through our journey with Sikaru Learning Expeditions and Habeli Outdoor Learning Center, students witnessed the impact of human actions and the importance of preserving our environment. A day of learning, reflection, and the beauty of contrast.

Yesterday, Sikaru Learning Expeditions and Habeli Outdoor Learning Center took grade 6 students from on their first outdoor education trip to Pancha Kanya Community Forest in Budhanilkantha. This is just the beginning, as we have several more trips planned with them!

Last Friday, students from Shanti Nikunja School and Sanskriti International School joined forces for a special "book-free" day. As part of their monsoon learning and climate action project, they explored the ancient water systems of the Kathmandu Valley. The children learned about the history of hiti (traditional stone taps), how these systems have supported civilizations for thousands of years, the importance of aquifers in providing drinking water, and why it's crucial to conserve these resources. This partnership between the two schools aims to raise awareness about climate change and inspire students to take action in protecting water sources. The collaboration will continue through August and September.
