If you find yourself being in the Himalayas and gazing the majestic Mountains, you can almost feel it. The sacred, ancient, and quiet power of the ice.

This International Mountain Day, the focus is on Glaciers. But this isn’t just about geology. It’s also about the communities living together with those peaks.

When the glacier retreats, the struggle begins:

👉Water becomes scarce.

👉Harvests become uncertain.

👉Traditions begin to fade.

But nature often provides a cure alongside the challenge.

H**p.

For the mountain communities, h**p is more than agriculture. It is a generational wisdom. It wraps them in warmth (textiles). It fills their bowls (nutrition). It holds the very ground beneath their feet (soil stability).

In the high altitudes, there is a beautiful duality: The glacier is sacred and the h**p is holy. 🙏🏼

One feeds the rivers. One feeds the roots.

Both keep the mountain alive.

Last week, Slush lit up the North during the dark November.

Our favourite moment? Definitely the Futures of Food session. Where circularity, bioprocessing, upcycling, climate-resilient farming, and smart tech applications took centre stage.

It was a meaningful intersection for the World H**p Festival to connect with pioneers advancing soil health, sustainable proteins, and crops designed to give more than they take.

Another highlight was attending an event that brought Nepalese startups together, to connect, share ideas, and explore how innovation is driving sustainable solutions both at home and globally.
