With a profound feeling of commitment, concern, pride and joy, SESS, on 21st Jestha-2083 B.S.(4th June-2026A.D.), very successfully organized a dual program comprising Investiture Ceremony for the newly elected members of the Student Council for Academic Session-2083 B.S. and Proficiency Award Distribution Ceremony to honor and appreciate the delicious fruit of diligence and perseverance manifested in the form of academic excellence of the the class toppers of classes UKG-X in the Annual Examinations of classes I-VII and IX and the Board Examinations of classes VIII and X, of the Academic Session-2082 B.S.
The illustrious occasion was graced by the valued presence of
Mrs.Pranita Niroula, a former senior teacher at SESS and the present Principal of St. Agnes School, Damak-6, as the Chief Guest. This truly memorable celebration of growth, leadership, success and academic excellence was also graced by the worthy presence of Sister Superior- Sr. Winnifred Mukhia, Sister Principal-Sister Augustina Lepcha, Primary In-Charge-Sister Freeda Vairung, Sister Sanjulina Lepcha, all teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and guardians of the awardees, newly elected council members and the general students.
The major highlights of the two and a half hours long noteworthy program were- welcome and reception of the Chief Guest, by senior teachers, being escorted by School Band, inspiring speeches expressing hearty gratitude and appreciation,symbolic prayer service, marching procession of the juvenile leaders, into the Harvey Hall, led by School Band,duet and group dances by junior students, introduction and felicitation of house moderators, felicitation of the parents along with their awardee children, the thought provoking speeches delivered by the Principal and the Chief Guest, stressing the importance of good leadership, diligence and discipline that deeply inspired the audience, and the so on and so forth.
Altogether, 49 budding leaders(27 Student Council Members and 22 class prefects) were formally entrusted with their responsibilities and were encouraged to conduct their duties with enthusiasm, honesty, sincerity and a strong sense of service. Likewise, altogether 60 high achievers were awarded with certificates and souvenirs.
The school extends most Profound Gratitude to the esteemed Chief Guest for her invaluable presence and highly inspiring words of encouragement despite her very busy schedule.
Furthermore, the school also extends heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation to all the parents for responding our invitation with full support, responsibility and concern for a collaborative effort for the further growth, development and brilliance of our children.
The school also expresses very Hearty Gratitude and Sincere Appreciation to all the Sisters, staff members and the students Who collectively and tirelessly played a pivotal role in making this event a highly meaningful, fruitful and fulfilling one.
The school extends most Cordial Congratulations and Best Wishes to all the awardees and the student leaders, and offers continued prayers to Almighty to bestow Showers of Blessings upon each one of them for unwavering success and continued excellence in all their future endeavors too.

As a gesture of serious concern and responsibility, SESS, on 22nd Jestha 2083 B.S. (5th June 2026) observed World Environment Day with immense enthusiasm and commitment for making young generation aware about the protection, preservation and promotion of clean, green and healthy environment. The event was marked by organizing a queue of highly meaningful activities such as cleaning drive in and around the school compound, planting of saplings, preparation and provision of organic juices to the staff and students, organizing of speeches on the importance of healthy environment during morning assembly,environment related drawing competitions among the primary students, watering of flowers and potted plants in the school yard , weeding the school compound and so on, solely aimed at creating and fostering awareness among the children about the sustainable environment for our healthy and happy living. The program was also aimed at motivating and encouraging students of primary, secondary and senior secondary levels for their responsible actions towards the conservation of eco-friendly environment.
Sr. Augustina Lepcha, all the Sisters, teaching and non-teaching staff and all the students from primary to secondary levels enthusiastically participated in the noble cause of cleaning the premises, planting trees, collecting wastes and promoting and maintaining a clean and healthy environment. These kinds of activities certainly instilled a sense of civic consciousness and collective concern among all the participants.
This observance of World Environment Day in the school was not only a celebration for the sake of formality but a practical lesson in upholding environmental responsibility.
The school extends Hearty Gratitude and Sincere Appreciation to all the Sisters, teaching and non-teaching staff and all the students who wholeheartedly participated in the noble event and made it a truly special, memorable and highly fruitful one. On the auspicious occassion of completing 100 years of service to humanity of Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny,North East India and Nepal,a spiritual pilgrimage to Kalimpong District of India as well as Namchi of Sikkim was organized by Suryodaya English Secondary School(SESS)Damak, Nepal dated from 28th to 30th May, 2026. A spiritual quest for inner purity and solidarity with centennial celebration was the prime objective of the pilgrimage .
The historic journey was predominantly directed to Kalimpong becase of the fact that from where the great humanitarian mission of Sisters of St.Joshep of Cluny began for the first time in the North East India and Nepal .
Guided by Sisters' grace and leadership, the first day, 28th May, 2026 commenced at 6:30am from Damak following a prayer by Sr. Winnifred Mukhia, invoking safety travel for the team consisted of thirty six members including three sisters-
Sr. Augustina Lepcha,
Sr. Freeda Vairung and Sr.Sanjulina Lepcha.
Crossing the border of Nepal, the journey continued uphill along the curvy road carved through the rocky mountain enjoying scenic beauty of pristine landscape with an incremental transition of weather from torrid to temperate.At 3:30pm,the team arrived safely in Kalimpong where torrential rainfall had a warm welcome.
The second day , early in the morning at around 8:30am , journey was bound for Namchi located in South Sikkim .Enjoying ups and downs, rivers and revulets, passes and panaromic scenes of evergreen forest reached Buddha Park (Ravangla), a famous tourist destination of Sikkim at 1:30pm where we spent 45 minutes . The place with a enormous statue of Buddha, 130-foot-tall on the top of the hill surrounded by green manicured meadow and uncountable steps to climb up and down truely moved the mind of every visitor at the very sight.Stunnning park with meditation center as well as museum offered alluring mountain views that one could hardly like to say goodbye to the paradise but human limitation. Subsiquently, Beauty of the Temi Tea Garden could not resist us from pulling ,where pilgrims forget all pains and plunge into pleasure. Having lunch, the journey moved toward CharDham, a holy place for Hindu. Visiting different temples of replica of CharDham, at 5:00pm, the pilgrim proceeded back to Kalimpong again.
The third day , in the morning at 8:30pm ,the most important spiritual journey embarked on a pilgrimage to Centennial Block , a magnificient edifice that fairly manifests choicest blessings of the most revered Mother Anne Marie Javouhey(Foundress of Sisters of St.Joseph of Cluny).
The faith journey started courtesy visit to Old Age Home of elderly and retired sisters and received abundant blessing from them. Then we reached to the final destination - Centennial Block where prayer was offered in the first- ever Chapel of St. Joseph’s Convent of the region.The team also visited Ashadeep,Cluny Provincialate where the whole pilgrim met Provincial Superior,
Sr.Eva Anju Lakra and exchanged greetings and conversations.At 12:00 noon, the team began its journey back home from dear kalimpong and arrived at Damak with refreshed and revived soul as a whole.

"Internal Assessment- A Step Towards Comprehensive Evaluation."
A teacher's workshop for the teachers teaching class I to V was organized on 23rd and 24th May 2026( 9 and 10 Jestha 2083) at Harvey Hall with the obective of familiarizing teachers with Nepal's new eduucation policy and curriculum reforms that include changing traditional exam based evaluation to Continuous Assessment System(CAS) for the classes from I to V. Additionally, the workshop focused on teaching-learning practices, child- friendly classroom environment, child- centered pedagogy, inclusive education, continuous assessment process and effective classroom management.The workshop was conducted by a hiried external resource person, Mr. Laxmi Nepal,Principal of Orchid Academy,,Secratary of Pabson Damak, Jhapa under the observation of Principal, Sr. Augustina Lepcha all along.A total of twenty one teachers involved in the workshop.
Day-One:
The workshop highlighted the significance of activity-based teaching to avoid lecture method and apply lerner-centered learning approach. Teachers were oriented on creating joyful and student- friendly atmosphare in the class that encourage and motivate every learner to participate in the learning process equally. During the sessions, the facilitator demonstrated modern teaching strategies such as group work, project work, intractive classrom activities,, peer peer and use of digital learning .
The facilitator further discussed the core content of the workshop that was the evaluation system for the classes I to IV - Continuous Assessment System(CAS) set by Nepal's new education framework 2076 and issued by the presennt government led by the P.M.Balendra Shah.He presented the format of each subject with the marks ranged from 1-4. The assessment is supposed to be done after having completed each chaper or unit in accordance with subject naure, such as Nepali- after lesson, Social Studies- after unit and so on.
Day-Two.
The second day was set for the reflection of the sessions held on the first day. It was an evaluation of the workshop upon the participants . Before beginning evaluation, a technique of writing clear shaped and sized handwring skill which is considered to be a crucial part of four(listening, speaking, reading and writing) was presented and discussed child psychology. Teachers were introduced to Curriculum Development Center,CDC- aligned digital information portal for obtaining teaching- learning activities. Thereafter, each subject teacher was asked to teach his or her class and thereupon applying the assessment format for marking grid. Every teacher enthusiasically participated in each activity of the workshop and demostrated their learning endevour successfully.
At the end of the workshop, teachers expressed their committment to implementing lernner- centered teaching method and applying knowledge and skills learned through the workshop.
Finally, programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Mr.Yubaraj Sapkota, a teacher of SESS,who thanked the school management for gracing this opportunity ,facilitator for enlightening the changed education system and participans for their undeviated patience in making the workshop remarkably scucessful.
