Gwaldubba

A beautiful city of jhapa lying on the southern part .... Juropani (जुरोपानी) is a village development committee of the Jhapa district of Nepal. are living here.

It lies in the southeastern border of Nepal with India. It is located in the southwestern part of the Jhapa District and bordered by Maharanijhoda VDC in the west, Khajurgachhi and Gaurigunj VDC in the South, Gauradaha VDC in the North, Korobari and Mahabhara VDC in the east. It is in the plain (Terai) of Nepal. There are 9 wards within this village. Mostly Brahmans, Chhetri, Jaisi, Kumai, Rajbans

i, Sataar(Santhaal) etc. Almost all the villagers are dependent on agriculture and the main crop they grow is rice in one season. Other crops are also grown but negligible. Most of the Sataar cast are without land. They work in other peoples land. Gwaldubba is a place for the trade in this village. Each Tuesday and Friday there is gathering of people for the buying and selling of their product known as 'HAAT' or Bazar. Almost all of the young people live outside of the village. Many live in the Capital of the country, Kathmandu. Some go to Arab, UAE, Malaysia and many of in European countries for employment and higher education. Recently almost all wards of the village are covered by electricity. The quality of electricity is not so good. Probably there are not more than 10 telephone lines in the whole village but cell phone is most popular communication and coverd must of the village area. There is drinking water system in ward number 7 (Jambadi & Dudhali) and 8 (Guffadi Chowk an Osti & Baral Gaun) in pilot phase. Peoples use water from the tube well and dug well. There is no problem on water quality but iron is somewhat of a problem. An irrigation system is not available. There is one irrigation system but not functioning properly due to budget and irrigation effected people has not got proper solution of landslide on tunnel. Farmers have to depend on the rain water. Gauria and Ram Chandre are the major streams flowing throughout the village and both are groundwater fed rivers that have more flow during the rainy seasons. Stream path diversion and encroachment has created flooding many times in the past. Bridge construction has just been completed after long time since the construction was commenced. It used to create problems to the peoples in rainy season but now they are all relieved and happy with the bridge on both the rivers. Some parts of the village are connected with the bus service but the service is not regular. Small rain will stop it. Peoples are politically aware. There is a school within 30 minutes walk. The college and higher secondary schools are now established in Gwaldubba. Nearest college with many faculty is 80 km away. Some higher secondary schools are founds within 20 km.
