HiCCDRC - Recent Activities/Events Annual Maintenance of Automatic Weather Station at Kathmandu University (21 May 2026)

Supraglacial lakes on the surface of Trambau Glacier, Rolwaling Valley. These evolving supraglacial lakes play a significant role in glacier dynamics, melt processes, and the development of glacier-related hazards in the Himalayas.

Successfully completed the glaciological field expedition in the Trambau Glacier, Tarkading Glacier, and Tsho Rolpa Glacial Lake, Rolwaling Valley, Nepal, through collaboration between the Department of Environmental Science, Kathmandu University, and Nagoya University, Japan.

The expedition focused on glacier mass measurements, glacial lake monitoring, setup and maintenance of AWS, Time-lapse cameras, tipping buckets, temperature sensors (thermistors) at surface, air and at different debris thicknesses, download meteorological.

Thank you all researchers, collaborators, and local supporters who contributed to the successful completion of this expedition.
