ESTRL has been working in the research and development of solar dryers since its inception in 2021.
The following SOLAR DRYERS are equipped with heat exchangers to enhance the drying process. The dryers were produced in-house at the laboratory with the team led by Prof. Bivek Baral and researchers Ananta Aacharya and Navaraj Adhikari , as a part of the project funded by the Swedish Research Council (SRC) along with the collaboration of Lunds University, Sweden.
The dryers were installed in two farms in Panchkhal on 10th April 2024. The farmers have found the solar dryers to be beneficial to reduce post harvest losses. Gyanendra Khatiwada, one of the farmers reported that the solar dryer could dry green chillies into dried red chillies in one sunny day, which open sun drying would have taken 4 sunny days.
