In light of the recent devastating flooding events that have impacted many regions across Nepal, the Centre for Environmental Safeguards and Occupational Safety-Kathmandu University (CESOS-KU) has developed crucial safety measures to support Post Flood Recovery. These measures are vital to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our communities during this challenging time.

As the festive season of Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath approaches, we understand many of you will be traveling home. It is more important than ever to be informed and prepared. We encourage everyone to carefully review these posters and follow the recommended steps for a safe recovery.

🌡️ अत्यधिक गर्मी र स्वास्थ्य जोखिम

गर्मी स्वास्थ्यको लागि ठूलो खतरा हो, जसले हीट स्ट्रेस, दिर्घकालिन रोगहरूको खराबी, र दुर्घटनाको जोखिम बढाउँछ। जलवायु परिवर्तनले गर्मीको जोखिम बढाउँदैछ, जसले गर्दा गर्मीसँग सम्बन्धित मृत्युहरू तीव्र रूपमा बढ्दैछन्।

🌍 खाडी देशहरूमा रहेका नेपाली आप्रवासी कामदारहरू गम्भीर गर्मीसँग सम्बन्धित स्वास्थ्य समस्याहरूको सामना गर्दैछन्। नेपाल र भारतमा पनि तापक्रमको वृद्धिले दैनिक ज्याला गर्ने कामदारहरूलाई दिनभर काम गर्न गाह्रो बनाएको छ।

यदि कसैलाई यस सम्बन्धी सहयोग चाहिएको छ भने CESOS-KU लाई सम्पर्क गर्नुहोस्। अहिलेका लागी भने केहि सुझाव हरु शेयर गरेका छौं ।

कामदार र कम्पनीहरूका लागि व्यावहारिक सुझावहरू:
1. कामको समय समायोजन गर्नुहोस्:
- बिहानको सिफ्ट: दिउँसोको गर्मीको समयमा काम नगरी बिहान चाँडै काम सुरु गर्नुहोस्।
- विभाजित सिफ्ट: बिहान र साँझको चिसो समयमा काम गर्नुहोस्, दिनको सबैभन्दा तातो समयमा लामो ब्रेक लिनुहोस्।

2. जलयोजन र ब्रेक:
- जलयोजन स्टेसनहरू: कार्यस्थलमा सफा पिउने पानीको पहुँच सुनिश्चित गर्नुहोस्। कामदारहरूलाई नियमित रूपमा पानी पिउन प्रोत्साहित गर्नुहोस्, केवल तिर्खा लागेको बेला मात्र होइन।
- फ्रिक्वेन्ट ब्रेकहरू: ओभरहिटिंग रोक्न छायादार वा चिसो क्षेत्रमा अनिवार्य ब्रेक लागू गर्नुहोस्।

3. छाया र चिसो प्रदान गर्नुहोस्:
- छायादार कार्यक्षेत्र: कार्यस्थलहरूमा अस्थायी छाया संरचनाहरू जस्तै तार्पलिन वा पालहरू सेट अप गर्नुहोस्।
- कुलिङ क्लोथ: कामदारहरूलाई ब्रेकको समयमा चिसो राख्नको लागि भिजेको कपडा वा कुलिङ टावल वितरण गर्नुहोस्।

4. सुरक्षात्मक कपडा र उपकरण:
- हल्का, सास फेर्न मिल्ने कपडा: कामदारहरूलाई हल्का रङको, फुसफुसिलो कपडा प्रदान गर्नुहोस् जसले उहाँहरुलाई चिसो राख्न मद्दत गर्दछ।
- टोपी र सनस्क्रीन: कामदारहरूले प्रत्यक्ष घामबाट बचाउन टोपी लगाउन सुनिश्चित गर्नुहोस् र सनबर्न रोक्न सनस्क्रीन उपलब्ध गराउनुहोस्।

यी उपायहरू कार्यान्वयन गरेर, हामी कामदारहरूलाई अत्यधिक गर्मीको हानिकारक प्रभावहरूबाट जोगाउन मद्दत गर्न सक्छौं।

Nepal has made strides in aligning labor policies with international standards, inspired by the principles of the Declaration of Philadelphia by the International Labour Organization (ILO). The Labor Act of Nepal 2074 upholds fair wages, reasonable hours, and workers' rights to unions and bargaining, fostering a culture of decent work.

Additionally, social security schemes under the Social Security Act 2075 offer vital protections for workers and their families, robusting financial security during challenging times.

Strengthened labor inspections further ensure adherence to safety and employment regulations, prioritizing occupational health and well-being.

Despite progress, challenges persist, including informal work, child labor, and gender disparities, highlighting areas for improvement in labor law implementation and social protection coverage. Continued collaboration with the ILO and other global partners enhances Nepal's capacity to address these issues and promote inclusive economic growth that benefits all workers.
