"Sharada Higher Secondary School was established in 1976 with the effort of 3 local people who gathered 7 students from the local ethnic community and started to conduct classes under a tree. In a couple of years, a local philanthropist donated some acres of land where a clay hut with thatched roof was built to run classes. Thus it got approval for elementary classes from the government. Gradually it started classes at all levels: Lower , . secondary and Higher secondary on it got support from government to build physical infrastructure. Now, it has a concrete building with several classrooms, however, those are not sufficient to run classes for an ever growing number of students. With continuous efforts of the school management committee, school staff, and the Principal, the school has been recognized as the one of the best in the national level exam among all schools in the Kailali district for 10 years. The school, currently, has approximately 1100 students. According the data of this school catchment area there are 2300 students among it 1300 who are going to private school. Among these number 75% students are from excluded family who first enroll their child to private school with the influence of other people later on these community could not pay school monthly fee as well annual admission fee consequence of it is drop out, conflict at house which also create another problem that is children they leave school and go to India for work girls they leave and do early marriage. As the number of students is increasing, we have created two sections in each class so that they can be run in two shifts. However, this causes difficulty in supervising and monitoring classes as Now, the school has 16 rooms, including the office, staff room and the store. There is no science well as conducting extracurricular activities or computer lab. The school does not have enough funds to build these rooms. The government has told clearly that it cannot contribute any more to the school. The local community is not capable of contributing, as 90 percent of the students come from the poor community whose parents barely afford to send their children to school let alone help build the school. To accommodate classes for the growing students from the poor community, we have a vision to add and to build new buildings with sufficient rooms for each activity of extra curricula and practical subjects which can help to provide quality education. Along formal education we have planned to provide non formal education to parents too which can change attitude of parents on education. Though this school is community based school but the participation of community is very low which is the major obstacle to provide quality education to the pupils, the consequence of it is that the teaching learning achievement and drop out is remaining in the same position, class repeation is high."
