The Department of Home Affairs at the Australia High Commission New Delhi conducted a Student Visa Program update Virtual Session today (23rd August). Mr. Andrew Dwyer, Second Secretary, Department of Home Affairs at the Australian High Commission New Delhi shared many important updates about Student Visa to more then 600 Agents who attended the virtual session.

Here are the key points that Mr. Andrew Dwyer highlighted:

1 Visa Grant ration from Nepal from 1st July 20121 to 30th June 2022
Higher Education – 94.9%
VET sector – 79%

2. Advisable to lodge student visa application: for H.E. lodge visa application 8 weeks before the program start date and for VET lodge 3 months before.

3. Average time to process H.E. student visa application is 45 days and VET is around 95 days.

4. Submit all necessary documents in immi account in one go. This will help the Visa office to give decision quick.

5. AHC has reduced the time limit to submit additional documents for 7 days. Previously it was 28 days.

6. Notarized documents not mandatory. AHC accepts color scanned copies of all documents for visa processing as well.

7. Advisable to do Biometric within 14 days of visa application lodgment.

8. Main reason for Visa rejection is failure to meet GTE requirement.

9. Don’t submit generic SOP. AHC wants short SOP written by the students themselves.

10. Submission of incorrect information/documents may result in 3 years suspension and if you submit false identity information/document then 10 years of suspension.

11. Agents are strictly warned not to prepare or create any documents for students.

12. Students should show genuine and accessible funds only with dependable proof.

13. Students should not depend on part time work in Australia for their living or tuition fees.

14. Only Nepal Rastra Bank listed Banks will be valued. AHC will not entertain funds shown in Cooperatives.

15. AHC may do the verification of documents submitted before Visa decision and/or AFTER visa decision too.

16. AHC suggested to follow and submit financial documents as suggested in ‘S56 Request for more information’ list for all students.

17. All travel restriction has been removed. However you are suggested to carry Covid Vaccination Certificate and MASK while travelling to Australia.

Mr. Andrew Dwyer concluded his presentation saying that Australia is always happy to welcome the Genuine Students and AHC is asking for S56 Additional Information to verify the Genuine Students.
