IVSA Rampur conducted an engaging and interactive session as part of Wellness Session 2026, bringing together veterinary students for an opportunity to learn, connect, and participate beyond the classroom.

The session began with an introduction to IVSA, its vision, Standing Committees & Networks, Ambassadors program, and the opportunities and benefits of being involved in IVSA. Participants were encouraged to explore the different platforms available to them and understand how active involvement can contribute to their personal and professional growth.

Following the introductory session, participants took the stage to introduce themselves and participated in various fun and engaging tasks. The activities encouraged confidence, communication, teamwork, creativity, and active participation, making the session lively and enjoyable. Participants who performed exceptionally well were appreciated with gifts as a token of recognition.

The session brought together learning, interaction, enthusiasm, and meaningful connections, creating a memorable experience for everyone involved. IVSA Rampur remains committed to creating opportunities where veterinary students can learn, connect, participate, and grow together.

IVSA Rampur observes International Homeless Animals’ Day to be draw attention to the growing challenge of homeless and free roaming animals and to promote humane, sustainable solutions for animal population management.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) estimates that the global dog population exceeds 700 million, with around 75% roaming freely. Free roaming populations are closely linked with animal welfare concerns, road injuries, abandonment, uncontrolled reproduction, and risks of zoonotic disease transmission.

Homelessness among animals is not simply a problem of numbers; it is also a reflection of human responsibility. Unplanned reproduction, abandonment, inadequate access to veterinary services, and irresponsible ownership can contribute to the growth of free roaming populations. Effective solutions therefore require a coordinated approach involving responsible ownership, vaccination, sterilisation, identification, adoption, veterinary care, public awareness, and humane population management.

There are examples demonstrating what sustained action can achieve. In Bhutan, a nationwide programme sterilised 61,680 dogs, including 56,251 free roaming dogs, alongside vaccination and responsible ownership measures.

International Homeless Animals’ Day reminds us that lasting change begins with preventing abandonment rather than simply responding to its consequences. Responsible choices today can reduce homelessness tomorrow.

IVSA Rampur successfully conducted an Awareness Program on Bird Flu on 3rd August 2026 at Janapriya Public School, Bharatpur-19, Chitwan.

The session was delivered by Mr. Manoj Raj Bhatta and Mr. Man Kumar Tamang, who provided valuable insights into the causes, transmission, clinical signs, prevention, and control of bird flu. The program also emphasized the importance of biosecurity measures, early disease reporting, and public awareness in preventing the spread of avian influenza.

IVSA Rampur extends its sincere gratitude to the resource persons, the administration of Janapriya Public School, and all the enthusiastic participants for making the program informative and impactful. Together, we continue to promote animal health, public health, and the One Health approach through education and community engagement.
