CABI (Centre for Agriculture and Bioscience International) has been active in Nepal, focusing on improving agricultural practices and pest management. One of their key initiatives in the country is the Plantwise programme, which was launched in 2008. This programme aims to enhance farmers' access to plant health services through the establishment of plant clinics. These clinics, often run by community business facilitators trained as plant doctors, provide crucial advice on managing plant health and tackling pest problems.

A significant aspect of CABI's work in Nepal is conducting pest risk assessments (PRA). These assessments help identify and manage potential pest threats to agriculture. CABI has developed a PRA tool that guides users through the process of evaluating and managing pest risks, aligning with international standards set by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC).

Gender integration is another focus of CABI’s Plantwise programme in Nepal. The initiative aims to ensure that plant health services are accessible to all farmers, addressing gender-specific challenges and promoting social inclusion.

Overall, CABI's efforts in Nepal are geared towards strengthening agricultural productivity and sustainability, supporting smallholder farmers, and improving the overall resilience of the agricultural sector.
