RABIES WEEK 2026 | DAY 2

TODAY’S FOCUS: TRANSMISSION OF RABIES
On the 2nd day of Rabies Week, Nepal Veterinary Students’ Association (NVSA), IAAS Paklihawa Campus, focuses on how rabies is transmitted.

Rabies virus is mainly transmitted through the saliva of an infected animal, most commonly through:
🐕 Bite :the most common route of transmission
🐾 Scratches : especially when contaminated with saliva
💧 Saliva contact with broken skin or mucous membranes (eyes, nose, or mouth)
The virus can be transmitted by infected mammals, including dogs, cats, bats, and other susceptible animals.

Today’s Focus: WHAT IS RABIES?
On the 1st day of Rabies Week celebration, Nepal Veterinary Students’ Association (NVSA), IAAS Paklihawa Campus, begins our awareness campaign by highlighting the basics of Rabies—a deadly but preventable viral disease that affects the central nervous system of mammals, including humans.

Through this week-long campaign, we aim to spread awareness about rabies prevention, responsible animal care, timely vaccination, and the importance of immediate action after an animal bite.

Successfully Conducted | Deworming and Castration Program.

Nepal Veterinary Students’ Association (NVSA), IAAS Paklihawa Campus, successfully conducted a Deworming and Castration Program in small ruminants at the IAAS Farm.

The program provided students with valuable hands-on practical exposure to essential herd health and livestock management practices, further strengthening their clinical skills and knowledge.
