The story of Blueye started early 2014.

Dive down below the surface with ease and share your findings through MS Teams live streaming and automated reports. Blueye has its roots in the highly renowned Centre for Autonomous Marine Operations and Systems (AMOS) at NTNU in Norway. Exceptional user experience and attractiveness have been the overarching design goals since the beginning. Together with world-leading marine engineers and award-winning industrial designers, we have in three years created what we strongly believe is the world’s best underwater drone, the Blueye Pioneer. Erik Dyrkoren was working on the idea behind Blueye at Marintek and NTNU Amos where he met Martin Ludvigsen, Professor of Underwater Technology at NTNU. Together with students, they developed what came to be the first prototype. During the first testing of the prototype on board NTNU's research vessel Gunnerus, they met Christine Spiten, who was on a field study for her Master's thesis on underwater drones. They quickly discovered that they had a shared vision and wanted to make underwater exploration more available. On the road to creating the company Erik, Martin and Christine connected with angel investor Erik Haugane (now chairman of the board) and together they founded Blueye Robotics in June 2015. Today, the Blueye Team consists of over 20 dedicated experts from different countries, working on many levels of software, robotics, mechanical- and industrial design, underwater technology, graphical design and business development.

The Swedish Navy is testing the X3 to see how it can help their divers. 🇸🇪

The Navy's Experimental Office, MaX, has had the Blueye X3 since May. They are looking at how it works alongside manned diving, from inspecting the underside of vessels to picking up things lost on the seabed.

Their development lead points out that 300 metres is plenty for the work they do in the Baltic. Send the drone down first, and you know what is there before anyone gets in the water.

We had a great time at Nor-Fishing and DALO Industry Days last week 🌊⚓️ Two important arenas for showcasing innovation across the maritime, aquaculture, and defence sectors!

At DALO Industry Days, we shared a stand with Maritime Robotics and Eelume, where we showcased the Blueye X7 and connected with the defence and security community.

At Nor-Fishing, we brought the Blueye X3 Ultra, other Blueye ROVs, and a selection of payloads to showcase how our technology can support a wide range of underwater operations.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our stands. It was great meeting you! 🙌🏻
