NTNU - Sustainable Think Tank

NTNU - Sustainable Think Tank Each student can come up with a plan and the platform is to open and establish contacts to likeminded or just interested students.

The organisations goal is to create a platform on which students from all organizations and study programs can meet and collaborate with small environmental projects. It is supposed to be organized in such a manner that we in the NTNU – SustainableThinkTank administration has nothing to do with each of the individual projects that students come up with and pursue at will. The NTNU – SustainableThinkTank is a non-profit organisation, but what each individual group decides to do is up to each individual group. Collaboration has been the major success for human development and has helped the specie to endure earlier climate changes such as the last ice age. This time we as a specie have the opportunity to not only survive the climate, but to change it! By collaborating outside our own study program we can open our eyes to new solutions and draw benefit from joint knowledge and perspective.

Lately I've had a small experiment at home.

Because I only need to feed myself and most foods comes in family packaging’s or sizes I happen to contribute a lot more to food waste than I want and bread is one of the products that suffers badly from my poor management. Most people recommend me to freeze a portion of the bread and save it for later but I've experienced that the quality falters and I often end up heating it for 5 min at 50C. To avoid this, I've now tested cooling the bread in the fridge. The results are that I don't throw bread any longer (even less than when I froze it), the quality last much longer (almost a week) and I use no more energy as I already need to open the fridge to get the butter and cheese.

Conclusion: Put your bread in the fridge :) This transfer to almost all vegetables also btw.

Todays ecofriendly tip: Buy the wierd looking fruits and vegetables in the store :) - your contribution does definitively help! Aprox 0,5 kg CO2 eq per kg broccoli for example.
