A great event is soon approaching - PhD Scholar Vilde Amundsen will publically defend her thesis on the 4th of December.
The following comitee has assessed her work:
- Professor Simon Bush, Wageningen University
- Professor Jahn Petter Johnsen, UiT Norges arktiske universitet
- Førsteamanuensis Gunhild Tøndel, NTNU

The topic for the public lecture is: «Technical instrument or social institution: What are the roles of aquaculture certification schemes in relation to the system-to-be-governed and the governing system?»

Vilde Steiro Amundsen has completed her PhD thesis from the SustainFish project. It will now undergo evaluation from an external committee and hopefully lead to a public defense. Congratulations, Vilde!

PhD scholar, Vilde Steiro Amundsen, and project leader, Tonje C. Osmundsen - Forskningssjef, have recently published the paper “Virtually the Reality: Negotiating the Distance between Standards and Local Realities When Certifying Sustainable Aquaculture”.

Here they argue for the importance of the human element in sustainability auditing, as this is crucial for knowledge exchange between aquaculture companies and auditors.

NTNU Samfunnsforskning was just granted funding from the Research Council of Norway (Norges forskningsråd) for yet another project related to sustainable aquaculture, SOLIC.Together with Nofima, NORCE, University of Tasmania, Karen Alexander and University of Iceland, this project explores the social license and reputation of the aquaculture industry.
