development. The Academy dedicates its teaching and research to the changing landscapes and cultures of the Circumpolar region. It explores a landscape that poses new challenges to the discipline of landscape architecture; a landscape formed by indigenous practices and threatened by a rapid industrialization in some cases, of depopulations and climate change in other cases. The program develops new approaches for landscape research and design in some of the most vulnerable cultural and natural landscapes in the world. Studios work on scales ranging from territorial fields to small biotopes. The school is located in downtown Tromsø, sharing a building with the Tromsø Academy of Contemporary Art. Tromsø Academy of Landscape and Territorial Studies is an extension of the Arkitektur- og designhøgskolen i Oslo (AHO). Links to studio work and research:
