THE PERSONAL PROJECT - a year long online Mentor Class with Anna Clarén.

What happens when you give a photographic project a whole year to grow?

A personal photographic project rarely develops in a straight line. It needs time, reflection, critical dialogue, and the opportunity to look at your own work with fresh eyes.

This year-long online mentor class with Clarén, one of Sweden’s most recognised contemporary photographers, is designed for photographers and serious enthusiasts who want to develop a personal body of work over time, with close guidance from an experienced artist and mentor.

You may join with an existing project you want to bring to completion, or with a new idea you would like to explore and develop.

Over 11 monthly sessions, Anna will follow the development of your work through image critique, conversation and guidance.

You will work continuously between sessions, building and refining your project throughout the year.

The aim is to develop a considered and coherent body of work, one that reflects your intentions and your individual photographic voice.

You will also work with the presentation of your project, including an artist statement and a professional PDF portfolio.

The program concludes with THE PANEL TALK, an online panel review in October 2027, where each participant will present their completed work to Anna and two invited photography professionals. The panel will discuss and evaluate your work as a professional portfolio review.

This Mentor Program is open for 8 participants. We still have a few seats open.

The Artist Week at Saga is more than a creative retreat, it’s a chance to step away from daily life and immerse yourself in a landscape of breathtaking beauty, surrounded by supportive peers who share your dedication to the arts.

Whether seeking inspiration in nature, refining technical skills, preparing for an exhibit, exploring project or portfolio work, participants leave this week with not only renewed focus but also lasting memories and connections.

FACILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES
    •    Participants will have full access to Saga’s facilities:
    •    A daylight studio with seamless white backdrop.
    •    A darkroom for analog and experimental photography.
    •    High-quality printers and bookmaking tools.
    •    A classroom with projector and whiteboard for optional presentations and feedback.

Saga also provides support in arranging models, scouting inspiring local settings, and connecting with the Inderøy’s community to enhance artistic projects.

Who is it for?
Artist Week is intended for former NORDphotography participants, our instructors, and experienced artists with an established body of work.

We keep the group intentionally small, a maximum of 5 participants, to create a focused, supportive, and inspiring environment.

THE ALTERNATIVE PROCESS FORUM FALL 2026: An online Forum for Alternative Process Practitioners!

Led by one of America’s foremost authorities on Alternative Processes, Jill Enfield, this online forum is designed for practitioners at all levels who are looking to refine their skills, solve challenges, and exchange ideas with like-minded artists.

The class offers personalised feedback on your images and guidance to troubleshoot any issues you’ve encountered while creating your work. Jill will also share work by other practitioners of Alternative Process as inspiration.

We meet online every 3 weeks starting August 28 to December 11.

Whether you’re new to multiple exposure or looking to deepen your practice, you’ll leave with a strong portfolio of new work, fresh ideas, and the confidence to continue exploring this expressive technique long after the workshop ends.

NORDIC ANALOG NETWORK: We had the great privilege to invite Artist, Curator and Art Educator Alexandra Stroganova from Finland, our pick for the Nordic Analog Network Artist in Residence, to SAGA this year.

Alexandra started her stay at SAGA by joining our workshop The Alchemy of Sunlight with AlternativePhotography.com’s founder Malin Fabbri. A workshop where participant explored Cyanotype, Anthotype, and Lumenprinting. And experimented with combining different processes and learning ways to implement experimentation of alternative processes in their creative expression.

The workshop seamed to have made a deep impact on our AIR, and the next 3 weeks Alexandra was in the darkroom experimenting, or out in the Inderøy nature collection pigments, or in our classroom scanning her work. She also almost daily went for a swim around the SAGA pound, and seamed to enjoy her stay here, as much as we enjoyed having her visit us. A very focused and productive artist, that left a lasting impression. Pluss we are now the lucky owner of an original art piece by Alexandra Stroganova, that now is framed and hanging on our wall so everyone that visits SAGA can enjoy her work.

Thank you to Nordic Analog Network for including SAGA as one of their darkrooms, and to artist Alexandra Stroganova for her contribution to the SAGA Residency.

THE SUMMER EXHIBIT AT SAGA: This summer at SAGA, we have the privilege of sharing the work of one of the most influential voices in fine art photography, Joyce Tenneson.

This exhibition is especially meaningful to us as it in addition to present some of the most powerful work by a beloved artist, also is an exhibit that represent a friendship and artistic connection that has lasted over twenty years.

Joyce Tenneson inspired our founder Elisabeth N Aanes, who worked as Tenneson’s assistant in 2005/06, to start NORDphotography. What began as workshops and conversations about photography has evolved into an enduring relationship built on a common passion for photography, and a shared belief in the power of art, and for creating space and opportunities for creatives to learn and be inspired.

The opening became an unforgettable evening. We were deeply honoured by the beautiful and thoughtful opening speech from the Mayor of Inderøy, who reflected on the significance of having Joyce Tenneson’s work here in our small coastal community. She spoke about how art has the power to connect local and international perspectives, and how this exhibition brings an important part of the global photographic conversation to Inderøy.

We also, in our Debutant Gallery, celebrate the work of photographer Tone Rieber-Mohn, Kari Furu, Lise Berg and Tonje Skinnes who participated in The NORD’ Mentor Program in 2025

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this special moment.

The exhibitions remains open at SAGA until 16 August, and we warmly welcome everyone who wishes to experience remarkable photography.
