After weeks of preparation, from the MYP3-organized football tournament to our annual Sports Day, it was time to celebrate the many achievements of our students in sport.

Sports Day brought our community together through a wide range of team sports, track and field events, and plenty of opportunities to challenge ourselves, try new things, and have fun. What stood out most was the enthusiasm, determination, and sportsmanship shown throughout the day. It was wonderful to see students encouraging one another, celebrating successes, and supporting their peers every step of the way.

A special congratulations to all of our award recipients. A huge thank you to our MYP3 student organiser, whose initiative and leadership brought this year's football tournament to life, and to all of the teachers and staff who worked together behind the scenes to make Sports Day possible. A big thank you to Mr. Delgado for all his efforts in organising Sports Day and ensuring everything ran smoothly!

A fantastic celebration of sport, teamwork, and community spirit!

This year’s PYP Exhibition brought together students from BISS Gausel and BISS Sentrum in a collaborative inquiry into medical innovations, guided by the transdisciplinary theme Where We Are in Place and Time.

While the PYP Exhibition showcased students’ findings and creativity, it also celebrated the skills they have developed throughout their PYP journey. Through research, collaboration, communication, and reflection, students worked across campuses, connected with mentors, took meaningful action, and demonstrated resilience when faced with challenges. They learned to persevere, adapt, and support one another throughout the process.

The PYP Exhibition is truly a community effort. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the mentors who shared their expertise and guided student groups, the parent volunteers who supported students throughout their research, and, of course, the classroom teachers who facilitated and supported the learning journey every step of the way!

Recently, BISS Gausel parents came together to engage in meaningful conversations about children’s well-being, healthy technology habits, and the impact of smartphones and social media on young people.

The evening provided an opportunity for families to connect, share perspectives, and explore ways to support children in navigating an increasingly digital world. It was encouraging to see parents coming together, strengthening relationships, and identifying new opportunities for collaboration within our school community.

We are grateful for the strong partnership between home and school and look forward to continuing these important conversations as we work together to support the well-being and development of our children.

A highlight of PYP5 is the annual camping trip, a tradition that students eagerly look forward to each year! The experience provides opportunities to develop independence, teamwork, and communication skills through a variety of outdoor activities and challenges. Beyond the learning, students strengthen friendships, create lasting memories, and enjoy a unique experience outside the classroom.

The success of the trip is also the result of many weeks of preparation. During Outdoor Education lessons, students have been learning practical camping skills, including how to set up and pack away tents, organise equipment, and work together effectively as a team. A huge thank you goes to the teachers for the extensive planning, organisation, and behind-the-scenes work that makes this valuable experience possible for our students.

PYP 1–3 Sports Day was a fantastic celebration of teamwork, perseverance, and school spirit! Students enthusiastically participated in a variety of activities, encouraging one another and demonstrating great sportsmanship throughout the day. It was wonderful to see everyone having fun, building confidence, and celebrating their achievements together.

Days like this are not possible without the hard work and support of the community. A very big thank you to Mr. Manuel for organizing such a fun-filled sports day and well done to the PYP6 students for giving their time and helping to make sure the different stations ran smoothly!

This week PYP4-6 took part in a sponsored walk to raise funds for children in need of life-saving cardiac surgery. They donned their rain gear and their smiles and walked or ran as many laps as possible, not letting the heavy rain dampen their spirits! The people behind this wonderful action were two PYP6 exhibition groups. Together, these students arranged the walk, presented their idea in assembly, spread the word and took part in the walk themselves. The grand total will be announced soon!

Thank you to all those who sponsored them. For more information on the charity this walk/run is supporting, please visit: '

As we are coming to the end of another school year, it has been wonderful to reflect on some of the experiences our students have enjoyed beyond the classroom. One highlight for MYP1 was their fantastic excursion to the Science Centre!

The day began with an engaging visit to the planetarium, where students learned more about the planets through an informative and immersive film. After lunch in the café, there was plenty of time to explore the interactive exhibits, spark their curiosity, and discover science in action. To round off a great day, students also enjoyed some time in the nearby park. A memorable day of learning, exploration, and fun, and a great example of how educational visits help bring learning to life.

This week all of MYP3 joined a guided tour of the monastery at Utstein kloster. Students and teachers had a wonderful time learning some local history, including some creepy details about ghost stories and unidentified fingers!

After the monastery, students and teachers spent the night at the beautiful Fjøløy fort, where they explored the German bunkers, played board games and even caught a few (tiny!) fish. All together it was a fantastic trip in a beautiful location!

What an incredible experience our Year 6 students have had on their residential trip to Knaben!

Throughout the week, the children immersed themselves in the rich history of the area, including fascinating visits to the old mines where they learned about Knaben's mining heritage. They embraced a wide range of outdoor adventures and life-skills activities, including orienteering, canoeing, archery, fishing and cooking their catch, CPR training, swimming, and scenic hikes through the beautiful Norwegian landscape.

Beyond the activities, the trip provided countless opportunities for students to build confidence, develop teamwork and resilience, challenge themselves, and create lasting memories with their classmates. A huge thank you to the Knaben staff who made this unforgettable experience possible and our BISS teachers for all their hard work in making this week a great success for the students!
