Make sushi, onigiri, and cute Japanese characters using soft wheat dough!
A fun, hands-on, and creative experience for children and families.

⚠️ Important:
This activity uses wheat flour (wheat dough).
Unfortunately, children and adults with wheat allergies or gluten intolerance/allergies cannot participate.

Registration will close once the event is fully booked.

Children under 3 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Around 65 visitors joined our Japanese Children’s Day celebration on May 10th, with many international families and young children taking part. 🎏
Kodomo no Hi, traditionally celebrated in Japan on May 5th, is a day to celebrate children’s happiness and healthy growth. Children made origami carp and samurai helmets, tried Japanese festival games, yo-yo fishing, and even learned to write their names in Japanese.
One of the highlights was our new reuse corner filled with toys and children’s clothes — a fun and sustainable addition loved by many families. 💛

Celebrate Japan’s Children’s Day —a special occasion dedicated to children’s happiness, health, and growth.
Join us for a fun-filled Japanese-style festival featuring traditional games and hands-on activities.
A great opportunity for children to experience Japanese culture in a playful and welcoming setting.

Community Reuse Corner🧸👶
We invite families to bring gently used toys and children’s clothing they no longer need.
Feel free to take something home if you find something you like.
This is a casual sharing corner, and the selection will depend on what participants bring.

Usually, kids are the stars—but this time, it was our volunteers.

Bunkasai was created by Japanese exchange students before heading home this May and June.
A small celebration of what they built here.

Even in the rain, so many people came.
Busy, but never chaotic. Just warm and welcoming.

From games and street snacks to tea and dance—
and kids joining in at the end.

Thank you to everyone who joined us.
And to our volunteer team—this success is yours.

If you’re interested in Japanese culture, language, or volunteering,
we’d love to have you with us.

Next event: May 10 (Sun). See you there!

いつもは子どもたちが主役。
今回はボランティアのみなさんが主役でした。

今回の文化祭は、特に帰国を控えた日本人留学生たちが作ってくれた特別な一日。
ここでの時間の集大成でした。

雨の中でもたくさんのご来場。
でも不思議とカオスにならず、あたたかい雰囲気に。

遊びも、おやつも、お茶も、ダンスも。
最後は子どもたちも一緒に。

ご参加くださった皆さま、ありがとうございました。
