The Letten Foundation and the Young Academy of Norway are today proud to announce the winner of the 2025 Letten Prize winner Professor Danielle Wood, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA.
Professor Wood receives the award for her pioneering work in utilizing space-based technologies to drive meaningful change on Earth. Her efforts across Africa, in collaboration with local institutions and young researchers, have focused on harnessing satellite technology to address climate and environmental vulnerabilities.

It also aims to raise public awareness of how research can help solve global challenges related to human development.

Today, the Letten Prize Committee holds its first meeting. We are well under way with the process leading up to the announcement of the winner and runners-up of the Letten Prize 2025.
Over the coming months, the committee will review outstanding candidates from around the world to identify the researcher who best combines excellent academic work with a strong commitment to society.

The selection process for the Letten Prize 2025 is underway.
We are currently reviewing all applications, and throughout the spring, the Letten Prize Committee will carefully assess the candidates to select this year’s winner and runners-up.
The final decision will be announced on June 17th, 2025.
