The second edition of The Ventriloquist Summerschool will look into the role of illusion as a way of being, working and generating knowledge. How does illusion take part in the constructs we build for ourselves and for the other? What's involved in accepting, rejecting, validating and iterating such constructs and how do we use them to project and deal with what's in front and ahead of us? The Sum

Alternative forms of education and its non-measurable merits - CAS 04/10/2017

In times of crisis, can alternative education models contribute to recharging the movement of change?

Kristina Ketola Bore writes about the summer school model over at CAS - Contemporary Art Stavanger. Also featuring photos from some of our friends, including Rogaland Kunstsenter's ISP where we had the pleasure of teaching this summer. 🌞🔮😎

Nye forståelser av kritikkens rolle #2 - CAS 21/04/2017

We are on a break, but not resting! Kristina Ketola Bore just wrote a piece on new understandings of critique for CAS - Contemporary Art Stavanger, where she highlights how teaching and organising TVSS is part of her practice as a design critic. Only in NO, but for the non-Norwegian speakers there are some photos of the 2016 edition.

A friendly PSA from The Ventriloquist Summerschool:

*insert long beep*

We're taking a break in 2017! After a batch of unsuccessful funding applications we couldn't help but cancel this summer's edition. It's against our core values to charge a participation fee so we'll accept our fate and get ready for 2018.

We'll use this year to organize our archive of works, talks and writing and make them available to the public. The same goes for the material from the fairs we have been part of in different countries and the multiple collaborations that emerged between the participants of all our editions.

In addition we’ll continue working internally and through collaborating with other schools, locally and internationally (Write us if you'd like us to visit!).

You'll keep on hearing from us because our radio, press and residency will keep on working. So we have not lost our voice, we're just taking some cough drops and experimenting with speaking in other ways ;)

We'd like to send a special thanks to Knock Knock Books (Else Lagerspetz + Loore Sundja), Victoria Bugge Øye, Pärtel Eelmere, Anther Kiley, Sally Thurer, Shira Inbar and Andrea Wong, which would have constituted our killer tutor lineup.

9. desember – Daisuke Kosugi 12/12/2016

Thanks Kos Daisuke Kosugi for mentioning our 2016 edition on KUNSTKRITIKK's Julekalender! Susanne's talk was indeed an evening to remember!

9. desember – Daisuke Kosugi Kunstkritikks egne skribenter og inviterte gjester velger det mest interessante fra kunståret 2016. Hver dag fra 1. til 24. desember kommer et nytt bidrag. I dag: Daisuke Kosugi.

And... we're late! But in 20 mins we'll be up. The Keynote panel is too good to let go of. Bear with us :)
