CFA Society Norway held in partnership with Oslo Business Forum an exclusive discussion session with Aswath Damodaran, Professor of Finance at the Stern School of Business at NYU last week.
The session was moderated by Trym Riksen, Head of Portfolio Management at Gabler. The session was attended by 50 CFA charterholders and friends of CFA Society Norway.
Professor Damodaran is renowned worldwide for his extensive work on and contribution to valuation. In addition to being a professor at Stern School of Business at New York University, where he teaches classes in corporate finance and valuation, he is an author, a widely published researcher, and a resource on valuation and analysis to multiple Wall Street investment banks.
During the session, Professor Aswath Damodaran spoke first about his early days of research on Finance, his genuine interest for teaching and valuation. He gave practical examples from his books - narrative in numbers and dark side of valuation. According to Damodaran, valuation is hard for many and it is therefore about making pragmatic choices, narrating story behind numbers and dealing with uncertainties.
