The Norwegian Research School in History offer doctoral candidates in Norway relevant courses and workshops.

The aim is to imrove the educational component and to connect doctoral candidates in history across the different institutions.

Første uka i mars arrangerte Den nasjonale forskerskolen i historie sitt årlige kurs i teori og metode. Kurset ble holdt digitalt, og her kan du lese om hvilke grep som ble tatt for å få til et et velykket digitalt kurs over én hel arbeidsuke.

Forskerskolen i historie lykkes med spennende digitalt kursopplegg - Det humanistiske fakultet – «Walk and talk» er det viktigste enkeltgrepet vi har tatt for å gjøre deltakerne bedre kjent med hverandre, sier professor Hanne Hagtvedt Vik.

What is the role of history in society? This 3 ECTS course will provide an in-depth exposure to current debates about the public role of historians. We will explore the recent turn toward climate and environmental history.

The Norwegian Graduate School in History: Course in Public History - Department of Archaeology, Conservation and History 29/04/2019

What is the role of history in society? This 3 ECTS course will provide an in-depth exposure to current debates about the public role of historians. In particular, we will explore, as a test case, the recent turn toward climate and environmental history to illustrate the ways in which historians have deepen our understandings current affairs, or also failed to do so.

This week we had the pleasure of hosting the second annual phd-course in "Methodological and Theoretical Problems in History" at UiO. 16 doctoral candidates in history from seven different institustions particpated in essay seminars and lectures, here represented by Erling Sandmo's lecture about "Making space: maps as a source in historical research”. We want to thank everyone who contributed and participated, and hope we
have given prospective researchers in history some new insights, ideas and food for thought.
