We have an exciting invitation for you! From November 11th to 19th, Oslo's oldest international film festival, Film fra Sør, will be taking place. This is your chance to explore the latest and greatest films from Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

This year is extra special because the festival has a dedicated "Spotlight China" section, focusing on cinematic gems from China. This is a unique opportunity to dive into the world of Chinese cinema!

But it gets even better!

Tickets and the full program for this year's Film fra Sør will be released on Thursday 26 October at filmfraso.no. Film fra Sør

Students get discounted prices for ordinary screenings for only NOK 125.

If there are more than 10 of you going to see a film at Vega Scene or NFK Vika Kino, you can also get an extra group discount on the tickets. The group discount is NOK 120 per person.

To help students de-stress from the upcoming exam period, on Friday 19th November, Marco Polo Foreningen arranged a workshop where participants went through a stress relief session by making one's own table size Japanese Zen Garden. Participants also get to bring home their very own table size zen garden to help calm their mind while studying for the exams.

We wish the best of luck for the upcoming exams for all students.

On 17th Sep 2021, members of Marco Polo Foreningen and other registered participants joined together for a planned visit to Utøya, an island in Tyrifjorden in Hole municipality in Viken which is owned by Arbeidernes ungdomsfylking. Marco Polo Foreningen cooperated with Demokrativerkstedet Utøya, The European Wergeland Centre on the event and the trip was financially supported by Velferdstinget i Oslo og Akershus.

On 17th Sep 2021, members of Marco Polo Foreningen and other registered participants joined together for a planned visit to Utøya, this unique experience provided a rare opportunity for students to reflect on what democracy means to them, on challenges and threats to democracy today, and how we can get involved as an active citizen in society.

While enjoying the beautiful nature of Utøya, participants visited the exhibition center that tells about Utøya's long history and its importance in Norwegian society; the tour continued to several important places on the island like Hegnhuset: Utøya's learning center, Lysningen: the island's memorial site, Kjærlighetsstien: the love path and other key spots like the value tree.

Utøya is a unique place for memorial, learning, and engagement. Every year, thousands of schoolchildren, confirmants, and committed young people from voluntary organizations, youth councils, leisure clubs, and sports teams participate in a democracy workshop on Utøya.

Marco Polo Foreningen is always aiming to support Asian-culture understanding in Norway, and you may enjoy selected co-hosted films related to Asian Culture for free at Cinema Neuf film screenings.

Once you went to one of the aforementioned films, Cinema Neuf will collect some personal info on you to enroll you to become a member with NFK, a membership with NFK allows you to watch movies at any Norwegian film club at member prices across the semester.

For other Asian Culture related films, you may purchase tickets like usual customers via Cinema Neuf.
