Overheating

The latest publication in Pluto Press' Overheating book series is now available: 'Climate, Capitalism and Communities: An Antrhopology of Environmental Overheating' explores the contradictions between the imperatives of exponential economic growth, and those of environmental sustainability. Based on ethnographich research from a diversity of places such as the Arctic, Mongolia and Peru, the chapters explore the relations of power that continue to cause ecological crisis and prevent effective action. Another book in Pluto Press´ Overheating series is out now: ´Mining Encounters: Extractive Industries in an Overheated World´. Drawing upon research across a wide range of locations, Mining Encounters uncovers the tensions, negotiations and disparities between different actors in the extractive industries.
