Forge of Creation, from fantasy art into symbolic art-making Playful on the surface, but loaded with symbolism. 😇
This illustration and concept art are from a visual storytelling course. The initial story pitch was created by a student of mine and was about the "Factory of Angels and Demons." However, as a class demonstration and workflow, I transformed it into my story, "The Forge of Creation."
Beyond the clouds, hidden between Day and Night, floats the Forge of Creation, not heaven, not hell but a process, not good vs evil — but balance vs imbalance — a celestial engine suspended from the heavens by tangled roots and cables of forgotten destines.
Every creature in existence arrives here as unfinished essence: soft, shapeless, innocent.
The problem is … the Forge is breaking.
Angels and demons are not creatures or species. They are identities forged by the parts of ourselves we choose to embrace or deny. The Forge reveals what lies beneath the persona.

I took my original hand-drawn concepts from a space game created over 20 years ago and applied today’s multi-style AI tools to them. 💪
By "feeding in" my sketches & prompting for specific styles and moods, I was able to enhance the colors, textures, and details without altering the core designs. Through this process, I created 8 unique variations of the same "Dragon Ships" while maintaining their original proportions, shapes, and volumes.
But when I give to AI only text prompts for my "Dragon Ships" without an image reference 👀 , AI generates literal interpretations. It failed to maintain the unique mechanical silhouette that balances biological inspiration with sci-fi engineering.
Here's a powerful conclusion. 🌟
While AI has the high-speed for rendering and texture, it lacks the "true creative DNA" that a human mind builds over decades. My ability to steer the AI — specifically by using my own original sketches to lock in the essence of the Scorpion, Whale, Shark, and Ladybug — shows that AI is still not a replacement for the artist's creative thinking and intention.
Based on my original ideas from over 20 years ago, here is a description of the 4 vessels in the Dragon Fleet:
🔯 Ship 1: Scorpion-Class
Original Inspiration: A scorpion.
Purpose: Interceptor.
Design Traits: This ship features a segmented mechanical "neck" or tail-like structure that connects the cockpit to the propulsion system.
🔯 Ship 2: Whale-Class
Original Inspiration: A whale.
Purpose: Transport.
Design Traits: This ship utilizes a heavy, organic, and bulbous fuselage that mimics the massive presence of a whale.
🔯 Ship 3: Shark-Class
Original Inspiration: A shark.
Purpose: Hunter.
Design Traits: Built for speed and attack, this ship retains a sharp, hydrodynamic silhouette with prominent dorsal and pectoral fins.
🔯 Ship 4: Ladybug-Class
Original Inspiration: A ladybug.
Purpose: Scout.
Design Traits: This ship has a rounded, dome-like feel with transparent upper panels, allowing the pilot to look directly upward while seated in the cockpit.

1-on-1 ART COACHING TESTIMONIAL: Cătălina P. (Romania) 🎨 💫
I had the privilege of working with Cătălina for almost a year. She took several of my classes in 3D animation, life drawing, and concept art, all for her admission portfolio for a bachelor's degree in animation.
We began with the fundamentals of animation, which was the first time Cătălina had ever opened Maya or created any kind of animation. Soon after, we embarked on a long journey to prepare her visual portfolio for applying to an international bachelor's program in character animation.
When I first met Cătălina, she was an amazing manga artist with incredible, accurate fan art. However, she had never created her own characters or unique stories, so that became our journey and task.
In preparing a full admission portfolio, we followed academic guidelines, creating drawings, animations and preparing the documentation. It was an entire process filled with all kinds of emotions for Cătălina, all while working against a schedule with a ticking clock.
Thank you, Cătălina, for your hard work and dedication.
It has been a joy to witness your growth as both as a person and as an artist!

My Sunday morning: continuing my awesome painting, continuing my self-study on Mental Science, and having my black coffee ☕️. I haven't even had breakfast yet (too early to eat).
Yeas I can do all at the same time, listening to audio lectures, painting and having the first coffe of the day.

From a mini-course: 3D Playground Scene, Stylizing Reality 🎨
Ever wondered how to turn a real-life reference into a stylized 3D world? We took a local school playground and transformed it into a low-poly, cartoon-style environment.
Nr 1: Reference is King" Don't just look at Pinterest—look at the world. I used my own reference photos to analyze orthographic proportions. Before opening Maya, I broke the structure down into its core architectural components.
Nr 2: Breaking the Grid: In stylized art, perfection is the enemy. The rule was to avoid straight vertical or horizontal edges. By bending, twisting, and slightly curving the "wood" elements, the scene gains a hand-crafted feel rather than "perfect" geometry.
Nr 3: Topology & The Wireframe: A clean mesh is a happy mesh. I focused on boxy, low-poly geometry that remains efficient without sacrificing the silhouette.

Throwback to 2015: a drawing class with Animation and Game Design students at Noroff University College in Norway. The class was specific drawing on paper not digital, a large number of students and I also had a great assistant.
This was a challenging environment—not because of the subject itself, which focused on the fundamentals of drawing fro concept art, but due to the physical classroom's limitations.
There was no projector and no specific drawing boards (also a classroom witout natural light). Instead, the walls were "dressed" as writing boards, which became my canvas for drawing and posting references.
Despite these challenges, the atmosphere was extremely vibrant, filled with creativity and class collaboration. This experience truly exemplifies resilience.

🎨 The Language of Shapes
Character design is far more than just aesthetics, it’s about Appearance and Physicality.
Before a character even speaks, their silhouette, their body type tells a story through three universal elements: Shape, Proportion, and Size.
By using "primitive volumes" we can capture personality directly into the body type.
🔹 The Honest – Built on balanced rectangles for stability and reliability.
🔹 The Strategic – Defined by sharp, inverted triangles to show agility and wit.
🔹 The Leader – A compact, circular endomorph representing grounded energy.
🔹 The Muscles – A massive, heavy-set mesomorph built for pure power.
When you start with a strong foundation, the character practically breathes on its own. ✨
