Four regular past-tense endings appear again and again in Norwegian: -et, -te, -de and -dde.

The spelling of the verb stem gives a clue, but there are exceptions. Learn a verb together with its past form rather than memorising a rule without examples.

Jeg spiste pizza i går: I ate pizza yesterday. The event ended.
Jeg har bodd her i ni år: I have lived here for nine years. I still live here.

Then her screen-time report appears: seven hours and forty-three minutes. Her own phone has testified against her. 😅
