A Successful Conclusion to the CERiTE Project - University of Inland Norway Over 50 participants from teacher education and the teaching profession across the Nordic region gathered in Hamar for the final conference of the CERiTE Project.

Vellykket avslutningskonferanse for CERiTE-prosjektet! 🎓
Over 50 deltakere fra lærerutdanning og skole over hele Norden møttes i Hamar 23.–24. oktober for den internasjonale avslutningskonferansen i CERiTE-prosjektet (Critical Examination of Race and Teacher Education)ved Universitetet i Innlandet.
Konferansen markerte slutten på fire års forskning ledet av **professor Prisca Bruno Massao**, som har undersøkt hvordan temaene rase, rasisme, hvithet og antirasisme behandles i lærerutdanning.
Programmet bød på inspirerende plenumsforedrag, parallelle sesjoner, VR-workshop, kunstutstillingen ARTivism av Cecilia G. Salinas og musikalsk åpning ved Karen Masao.
Internasjonale keynote-foredrag ble holdt av:
Iram Khawaja, Aarhus University
Reza Gholami, University of Birmingham
Christine Sleeter, California State University, Monterey Bay
Konferansen ble en stor suksess både faglig og sosialt – med engasjerte deltakere, viktige samtaler og ny inspirasjon til videre arbeid for antirasisme i lærerutdanning.
En stor takk til alle foredragsholdere, deltakere og bidragsytere som gjorde dette til en verdig avslutning på prosjektet!

Successful Final Conference of the CERiTE Project!🎓
Over 50 participants from teacher education and the teaching profession across the Nordic region gathered in Hamar on 23–24 October for the international final conference of the CERiTE Project (Critical Examination of Race and Teacher Education) at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences.
The conference marked the conclusion of a four-year research project led by Professor Prisca Bruno Massao, exploring how race, racism, whiteness, and anti-racism are addressed in teacher education.
The program featured inspiring keynotes, parallel sessions, a VR workshop, the art exhibition ARTivism by Cecilia G. Salinas, and a musical performance by Karen Masao.
International keynote speakers included:
Iram Khawaja, Aarhus University
Reza Gholami, University of Birmingham
Christine Sleeter, California State University, Monterey Bay
The conference was a great success – academically and socially – bringing together engaged participants, meaningful discussions, and new inspiration for continuing anti-racist work in teacher education.
A heartfelt thank you to all keynote speakers, presenters, and participants for making this event a truly inspiring conclusion to the CERiTE Project!

INVITATION: OPEN CONFERENCE - RACE AND RACISM
Welcome to the CERiTE Conference, 23–24 October 2025 at the University of Inland Norway, Hamar.
We are delighted to invite all interested parties to the final conference of the CERiTE project.
At The University of Inland Norway, the study “Critical Examination of Race and Racism in Teacher Education” (CERiTE) has been conducted during the period 2021–2025.
The project is funded by the Research Council of Norway (RCN).
The CERiTE project has focused on examining how current teacher education, including early childhood teacher education, prepares future teachers to teach about and address racism in schools and kindergartens. How do teacher students and teacher educators perceive the teaching of racism and discrimination in teacher education today?
The CERiTE research team, in collaboration with various partners, has developed research-based knowledge in this area. The findings from the CERiTE study will be among the contributions presented at the conference. In addition, a range of exciting studies in the field will be presented by both national and international researchers.
The CERiTE project is coordinated by The University of Inland Norway in partnership with Østfold University College, Elverum Municipality, the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue, the Norwegian Emigrant Museum, Glomdal Museum, Randsfjord Museum, and a VR company.

Our annual CERiTE seminar at the Wood Hotel in Brumunddal is completed! The event was a fruitful platform for professional development.
A big thank you to everyone who made the seminar possible, including those who couldn’t attend but supported from behind the scenes.
We’re especially grateful for the invaluable presence of our international members, Reza Gholami and Christine Sleeter, as well as representatives from Nansen Fredssenter - Kathrin Skjåk Teigum and Astrid Folkedal Kraidy. They all contributed greatly with keen insights and advice.
