Det er framleis mogleg å melde seg på - fristen er måndag 8. juni kl. 23.

🐝 World Bee Day is a beautiful reminder that pollinators are the little things that run our world. They are part of the living fabric that connects flowers, food, landscapes, economies and people.

To mark this special day, we are delighted to share the very first issue of the Butterfly newsletter. Inside, you will find stories from our Living Labs, reflections on how artificial intelligence may transform the future for pollinators, a look beneath our feet with our partner project ProPollSoil, and even a heartfelt message from a solitary bee.

This first issue is an invitation: to look more closely👀 , to care more deeply💓 , and to recognise that pollinator stewardship begins with attention‼️ - to flowers, soils, farms, gardens, forests, cities, and all the hidden places where pollinator lives unfold.

On World Bee Day, let’s celebrate bees, but also hoverflies, butterflies, moths, beetles, flies, wasps, birds and bats that help keep our world alive.

"The UN Decade of the Ocean slogan is The Science We Need for the Ocean We Want. But what ocean do we want and who is this 'we'? Here, we will tackle this question of what ocean Norwegians want.

Enjoy an exhibition of diverse stunning Norwegian seascapes, selected from entries to a contest asking What does the sea mean to you? Learn about the MENSA research conducted to explore Norwegians´ values related to the sea. Participate in an interactive activity on What kind of ocean do you want?, the theme of our new contest.

Hear from a diverse panel about their experiences with the ocean, what the ocean means to them, and how to preserve these ocean values:

Vi inviterer søkarar til å utarbeide eit vitskapsteoretisk orientert forskingsprosjekt om grunnleggjande teoretiske og omgrepslege føresetnader for naturvitskapleg, samfunnsvitskapleg, og/eller humanistisk forsking, inkludert praksisar der kunnskap frå desse forskingsområda vert teken i bruk (politikkutforming, teknologi, offentlege utgreiingar, kommunikasjon, media med meir.)

SVT is hiring! We're seeking a new PhD Research Fellow in Theory of Science (vitenskapsteori). Deadline: 10 May.

We invite applicants to develop research projects within theory of science, that investigate fundamental theoretical and conceptual assumptions in natural sciences, social sciences, and/or the humanities, including practices where knowledge from these fields is applied (policy making, technology, communication, media, etc.).

Gratulerer så mykje til vår gjesteforskar, Tore Vagn Lid, for nominasjonen til den nasjonale Ibsenprisen i år! 🥳Det filosofiske lesedramaet "Triggersystemet" står i sentrum av eit fleirårig kunstarisk forskingsprosjekt initiert av Vagn Lid, og i januar 2025 var vi så heldige å få arrangere ei samhøyring av Triggersystemet i vårt eige kontorlokale.

Prosjektet spelar - saman med andre av Vang Lid sine prosjekt som «Tilstander av unntak» og «Det Tredje Rikets Språk?» - ein viktig rolle i forsøket på å utvikle format for kunstnarisk/kunstbasert forsking.

On 17 March, 17-19, we are hosting a book release for the edited volume Ethics and Mathematics: For Students by Students.

Join the discussion on this new edited volume, which explores the ethical dimensions of mathematics as experienced and articulated by doctoral students in mathematics and the sciences at Universitetet i Bergen!

All interested are welcome. The release may be particularly relevant to undergraduate and graduate students in mathematics and areas that rely on mathematics, such as engineering, statistics, computer science, physics, biology, health sciences, and chemistry, as well as researchers and practitioners in mathematics education.
