🎄🎄Season’s Greetings from AIS 🎄🎄
As we come to the end of the year, we would like to wish a very Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate it.
And to those who don’t, we wish you a happy and restful break filled with joy and well-deserved rest.
We want to take this moment to say thank you — to our students, families, and staff — for your commitment, support, and dedication. Together, you continue to build something truly special: a caring, inspiring, and vibrant school community.
May this season bring warmth, peace, and happiness to you and your loved ones. We look forward to continuing this journey together in the year ahead.

This week, our Grade 4 classes visited Asker Library. They were shown where to find fun books to read and games to play. It's a great place to visit, just a short walk away!

Two weeks ago, our Grade 4 learners hosted their Grade 4 Market, selling toys to the grade 3s that they brought from home. This End of Unit showcase highlighted how consumer culture impacts the environment and gave students a chance to practice communication, research, and reflective thinking. All funds raised will be donated to charity. We will announce the charity and the amount gathered in the new year. Well done, Grade 4!

Our Grade 10 PE students had a session in the local CrossFit gym recently. They were put through their paces by two professional coaches, and although it was tough they really enjoyed it. We hope they are inspired to keep up their fitness routines from everything they have learned throughout this unit.

✨ Celebrating St. Lucia at AIS ✨
Last week, our students took part in a beautiful small event inspired by St. Lucia Day, a traditional celebration from Norway and other Nordic countries. Dressed in white and carrying candles, the children symbolised light, hope and togetherness during the darkest time of the year.
It was a meaningful moment to learn about different cultures and traditions, and to share values of peace and community within our school. 🤍🕯️

Over 500 teams were registered in Norway this year, so this is a remarkable achievement.
Now they begin preparations for the Global Finals in Houston, where they will represent not only AIS, but Norway as well.
Well done, lads! We are extremely proud of your achievements. This success would not have been possible without the incredible support, guidance, and management behind the team.

As we wrap up our unit “Discovering Rhythm and Melody”, our Grade 7 students have taken big steps as young musicians. Over the past weeks, they learned how to read and write musical notation and used these new skills to compose their very own short pieces (fully written in standard notation!) 🎼
They also learned to play several short songs on the xylophone, gaining confidence as performers while exploring rhythm and melody hands-on 🎶
Throughout the unit, we saw the IB Learner Profile in action:
-As Risk-takers, students tried out new musical ideas and experimented with their compositions.
-As Communicators, they shared their pieces with classmates and supported one another during practice.
-As Thinkers, they made thoughtful choices about rhythm, pitch, and structure.
It’s been inspiring to watch their creativity and musical understanding grow. We’re so proud of their progress! 💙

In connection with our unit about communities, Grade 1 had a special visit from both the paramedics and the firefighters. The children were very excited to learn about these important jobs and how they help keep our community safe. We also asked lots of great questions!

Understanding how the darker days of November can affect us all, our core leadership team wanted to bring some extra joy and warmth to the final weeks of term.
By listening to our dedicated teachers, we set out to show just how much we truly value and appreciate them. Over the past weeks, staff have enjoyed a range of thoughtful treats; from Mr. Mark’s croissants and coffee to waffles lovingly prepared by Miss Ivon, Miss Ren, and Miss Angie, and even a hot lemon-and-honey station hosted by Mr. James. It’s been our way of giving a little back to an incredible team who gives so much every day.
