Arendal International School (AIS)

25/06/2026

The end of the 2025/2026 academic year AND the end of an era! 💫
AIS legend, Bente Pederson, is retiring after 20 years 💐 We will miss her endless energy and inspiration. We wish Bente all the best and thank her for all she has done to build our beautiful and diverse community ❤️
Our last couple of weeks were filled with a flurry of activities across the whole school including sunset camping, G10 graduation, SFO fun, community projects, beach trips, a staff party, a stunning 20 year celebration and, last but not least, Lucky turning 14 🎉
We wish our departing students and staff smooth transitions to their next destinations, and we look forward to seeing everyone else in August. SFO starts on Monday 3rd August; school starts on Thursday 13th August. Until then, enjoy the summer break! 🌿☀️🌸

A short but busy week! ☀️
Our retiring Head of School, Bente Pederson, attended a farewell dinner with the AIS Board. The acting Mayor, Inger Brokka de Ruiter, made a beautiful speech thanking Bente for her 20 years at AIS 🌟
Meanwhile, our new Head of School, Shauna Ross, has been getting to know staff 😊
Our youngest future world leaders have been busy with inquiry learning (including the Norwegian concept of friluftsliv) and our oldest students have been taking exams, some fuelled by just a little godteri 😆
Our school dog, Lucky, has been meeting and greeting students 🌿
We wish our community a relaxing weekend! 💛
