There is a book I keep coming back to: ''Chiron in Labrys'', by Kathy Jones (.jones.1000). One line in it stopped me the first time I read it, and it has not let go since.
What I love about this quote is how ordinary it makes initiation. We tend to imagine it as something grand and ceremonial, a single dramatic doorway. This writing reminds me that most of our initiations are quiet. A loss, a decision, a moment.
These small thresholds are doing the same sacred work as the big ones. And each of those initiations clears a little more of the windscreen, so to speak. With each threshold you cross, more of your soul shines through.
And the part that moves me most is the word "vehicle." Your personality, your moods, your particular way of laughing and grieving and loving, all of it becomes the instrument through which your soul speaks. Healing, in this view, is not about becoming someone 'purer' or more 'polished'. It is about becoming more transparent to what already lives in you.
This is the work Kathy named so beautifully, and it is the work I am devoted to carrying forward.
