“Minxia means ‘colorful’ and this name was given to me by the orphanage where I was found as a baby. I believe it is important to add colour to life if you have the opportunity.”
As a child I dreamed about discovering the world like the seafarers and explorers. Excuses like missing a hand were no reasons for me to let dreams go, thus after years of saving and preparing, I sailed the sea route of Columbus. In my puberty I wanted to study something of my own interest (of which there was no BSc) or not study at all. My teachers recommended WUR because of the flexible education possibilities and the people that have their heart in the right place. I started rowing at W.S.R. Argo and compiled my own BSc at WUR.
Later, I got the opportunity to join the Aegon National Rowing Team and to combine my MSc’s. For me, sport and study reinforce each other. Now I dream about winning the Paralympics and establishing a partnership in my research specialization. I am really looking forward to these adventures!
