We're sharing a call to all alumni from the Faculty alumni coordinator (TL;DR: please fill in our survey!)
***
Did you graduate between 2016 and 2021? And do you want to contribute to informing our (future) Humanities’ students about their career prospects and their (future) studies?

With input from you as former student, we can improve our information, as well as the education and alumni policy of the Faculty of Humanities and its study programmes. That is why we would like to hear your opinion about your study programme, what you did/are doing after graduation and what your needs and wishes as graduate are regarding contact with your degree programme, the faculty or the university.

Participate in the alumni survey Humanities (Utrecht University) via: https://survey.uu.nl/jfe/form/SV_3DF44o9KdO2eF7g

The survey is open until February 14, 2022 and takes about 15 minutes to fill out. As respondent, you have a chance at winning a Join the Pipe Utrecht University water bottle.

Thank you very much in advance!

In Memoriam: Maureen Peeck-O'Toole, Bradford 1935 – Utrecht 13 June 2020

We have recently learned of the death of Maureen Peeck-O'Toole, who was a lecturer at the English Department of Utrecht University from the mid-seventies till circa 1990, when she took early retirement. Maureen had been ill since suffering a fall in 2016. She died at home on 13 June. She will be remembered as a great colleague and an enthusiastic teacher of literature, with a special dedication to her students. During seminars, she would insist on drawing her students into class-discussions, if necessary by confronting them directly: “And you? What is your opinion?” Maureen’s special love went out to poetry and to the Brontës. Her 1988 PhD thesis combined these two fields of interest: Aspects of Lyric in the Poetry of Emily Brontë, published by Rodopi in that same year. Maureen will be much missed. She leaves her husband Joan behind her, as well as her daughter Bridget and three grandchildren.

Two truths, one wild conjecture. If any of our current students pick up the pop culture reference in this tweet, I'd be weirdly impressed. But anyway: this Friday, book launch, literary translation, Academiegebouw, Onno Kosters!
