Daily routine
The importance for a daily practise, a daily routine is more and more becoming important to me.
It started as a necessity because of my depression and anxiety (old feelings of unsafty) that came up in the last year and a half to look at.
But now, when looking back I was really trying to find my feet in all of these intense feelings. And creating a daily routine was a key factor in my proces of finding this ‘ground’ again.
Now that I am in a different place, this daily routines are being improved up on.
Thanks to the Mens Yoga challenge 30 days created by Martin Metzmacher which I am doing right now, together with my pal Bas Waijers Baumann ( 18).
I more and more feel the importance of a daily structure thats helps ground myself, let me feel safe & contained and the physical and mental benefits of working with the body, more and more.
So in days when I feel ‘off’ or not sure where my feet or feelings are @… These routines help me to get out of my head, and I don’t have to think about this practices, I just have to do them.
And nearly always after, I noticed my feet again.
Because I physically used those and are more present in the body (and the moment).
Not only physically but also mentally it helps me stay present, and get through the more tougher days, which we allways will have (growth).
And ofcourse it is nice to feel improving in stamina, flexibility aswell as strenght daily.
So what does my routine look like now?
🔹 I start my day with some light exercises, to wake up the body, stretch and oil the mechanisme.
Then I do the Wim Hof breathing for 3 rounds, following with a cold shower.
And I end with a moment of gratitude.
🔹Then I go outside for a ride 🚲 to make a connection with the outer world, whereby I feel more connected with my own self and emotions & thoughs of that day.
🔹 I have breakfast after all this (around 11am) so may bowels have time to rest from diner the day before till then. And start my day with whatever is on the agenda.
🔸My evening routine starts with doing a walk fir atleast 20min.
🔸Then Yoga for 30 mins (mostly power yoga and alternated with yin yoga for recovery)
🔸A warm shower when I feel like it.
🔸Then I go lay down in bed and relax my body consiously around 10/11 pm and will revisit my day in my mind, focussing on the pearls (parels) of that day.
So what where moments of connection, laughter, of growth, of things I did in felt proud of and so on.
🔸Then read a book and go sleepy-time 😴
I also have a more structured week now, not going into details about that now.
But one important aspect is karate 🥋
I never was able to stay commited to a sport for long because of perfectionism (afraid to do it wrong) or just not wanting to commit because go with the flow (feelings)…. 🌊
But for the first time I am really commited to something I really love and start loving more and more. And it helps me massivly in generating strength and power in myself in the body. The capacity to take punches and kicks and give thise back and forth. It’s a interacction of insictive powes and I just lice that 🔥
