What many people call the Chinese sign is the lower part of the year pillar, called the year branch. In the chart you see this is Monkey.

However in serious Chinese Four Pillar Astrology both the Hour, Day, Month and Year pillars are important.

In fact the top of the day pillar, also called the day stem is regarded to be the most important. In the chart the day stem is Yin Wood which means the person is tender and intelligent.
