One of the components of the Outreaching Honors Program is the EARL (Entrepreneurial And Responsible Leadership course). Last Wednesday, Outreaching C7 was visited by; Jan Spruijt, Robbert Groenen and Reggy van Den Bosch. All of them are focused on the social aspect of entrepreneurship and taught us about what kind of mind-set you need to have in order to become a successful entrepreneur. Jan Spruijt first introduced us to a challenging business strategy simulation game in which we had to create our own start-up company in teams. We needed to launch our own ideas, do customer research and start a crowdfunding campaign. This was all very fun and consisted of a competitive part in which one team could get the highest score.
Robbert Groenen is a program-director at One to Watch: One to Watch is a company that connects Dutch investors with entrepreneurial companies in Myanmar and Nepal. They are dedicated to making serious social impact and serious profits in Nepal. Robbert gave an interesting presentation about social entrepreneurship and how you can combine having a social impact on a community whilst also making a profit. Lastly, Reggy van den Bosch from the Tilburg Center of Entrepreneurship (TCE). Reggy gave us some more information about the TCE and about a possible minor or master’s track in Entrepreneurship. All in all C7 had a fun and educational evening and we would like to thank the speakers once more.

While the new cohort is starting, cohort 5 succesfully completed two years of Outreaching.
Geert Lamerichs about the graduation session: "The best thing about the ceremony, was the fact that it gave us the last opportunity to see and thank each other for two amazing years, for, what I assume to be, a long time. One could in my opinion really see that the group of people who went to the kick-off weekend, became a cohort with a strong bond. I relived memories with my fellow "C5'ers", and created new ones as we partied one last time. I realized that I told myself this program would be life altering, and for me it really has been that."
We wish the students best of luck during their future endeavours!

Econometrics student Christel Opheij (20) is one of 10 students of the Outreaching Honours Program at Tilburg University who have founded ‘YOUmanity’, a platform to match refugees and people with the same interests, so they can help each other out and do fun or useful activities together.

C6 also went on a study trip to St.Petersburg. Rik will share his experience with you:

As a participant of Outreaching cohort 6 I got the opportunity to go on an one week study trip to St. Petersburg. Despite of the fact that this city is the most western like city of Russia, it still was obvious to me that we were outside of Europe. For me that was the first time in my life. The whole trip was truly beautiful, but the thing that was the most impressive to me was visiting the ballet academy and a ballet performance afterwards. Firstly I thought that I would not find the concentration to watch such performance for four hours straight. However, after seeing how hard it is to become a ballet dancer and finding out that there are lots of breaks in between the play, I enjoyed the performance very well. It is inspiring to see from what age the dancers are training to reach their goal: to dance at the highest level possible…

Although I have enjoyed a lot of beautiful cultural- and historical activities, my most important memories will be all the great conversations I had with my fellow Outreachers. I think this trip strengthened the bonds between me and my fellow Outreachers, especially because it was organized in the first year of the programme.
