Autumn Holiday Special Offer for Music Lessons!

Do you want to kickstart your child’s music education this Autumn Holiday? A week off from school is an excellent opportunity to start learning to play an instrument or more intensely commit to practicing and enjoying music!

Musical Mind & Soul Studio wants to encourage all to use this time for their musical development and therefore has a special offer: book two or three lessons from Saturday, October 17th to Sunday, October 25th and you’ll get a highly discounted price for the lessons!

The studio offers classical piano and guitar lessons; we also offer the possibility to choose guitar/piano combo lessons, to explore both instruments and gain a thorough musical grounding and ability to play an instrument in just about any setting. Lessons are taught in studio at Bohemen en Meer en Bos neighborhood in The Hague, MOOOF studio at Binckhorstlaan in The Hague, or online.

About the Teacher: Jelena Ratkovic

Jelena Ratkovic is an American-Serbian classical guitarist, currently based in the Netherlands. She started playing the guitar when she was 7 years old and has studied with Leighann Narum, Meliset Abreu, Alice Artzt, Tania Chagnot, Stephen Aron, Zoran Dukic, and Ignacio Rodes. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague (Netherlands), and a Master of Arts in Classical Guitar Performance with Cum Laude distinction from the University of Alicante (Spain). She has participated in numerous guitar festivals and is a laureate of several prestigious international competitions. Jelena has performed in Serbia, France, the U.S.A., the Netherlands, and Spain; in addition to performing solo, Jelena performs frequently with mezzo-soprano Veronique van der Meijden and pianist Sanja Drakulic Ratkovic, and teaches guitar and piano in The Hague.

My views on Teaching:
For me, teaching is a great joy and passion. The ability to inspire students, enrich their lives, and foster a lifelong love for music through teaching is an incredible gift – and also a responsibility that shouldn’t be taken lightly. My goal is to help students build an excellent technical basis, while developing musicality and creativity and nurturing a lifelong love and appreciation for music. Individual lessons are tailored to the level, needs, and interests of each student. Preparation for exams and auditions is possible and we will work together to achieve all your musical goals!

About the Teacher: Sanja Drakulic Ratkovic

Biography
Sanja Drakulic Ratkovic is a Serbian-American concert pianist and piano teacher.
She was born in Belgrade (Serbia), where she started her musical education. She continued her studies at the Central Music School of Moscow and Conservatory P. I. Tchaikovsky (Russia), where she graduated as a piano performer, chamber musician, and music teacher. She earned her second Master's degree in piano performance at Belgrade University.
As a concert pianist, Sanja Drakulic performed in many countries throughout the world: Serbia, Russia, Ukraine, France, Germany, Syria, Tunisia, USA, Canada, and Mexico. She recorded for Serbian Radio and was a frequent guest on TV.
Sanja Drakulic Ratkovic taught piano at Belgrade University and had a music studio in Mountain Lakes, NJ (USA). She has held numerous master classes for young pianists and served as a jury member in various piano competitions. In 2013, Sanja Drakulic Ratkovic opened the music studio "Musical Mind & Soul" in The Hague (Netherlands).

My views on Teaching:
I have experience in teaching students of different levels: from beginners, both little children and adults, to Conservatory students (majoring in piano performance), and serious amateur pianists. Students have different goals for what they want to achieve and each student progresses at his/her own pace. And most importantly, everybody has a distinct individual character and musical taste.
I always consider musical expression to be the most important aspect of music. I teach piano technique always keeping in mind the musical idea of a piece and the general purpose of music - the joy of creating, even if it is at a very beginner's level. My approach differs from student to student, depending on his/her level, goals and abilities, but I always try to give the best school I can, while nurturing the student's artistic expression and joy in creating music.

Musical Mind and Soul Studio is an international music studio located in The Hague, specialising in classical piano and guitar education, as well as general music theory and performance preparation. Sanja Drakulic Ratkovic and Jelena Ratkovic teach all levels, from beginner to Conservatory level, children and adults. The goal is to provide students with an excellent technical and theoretical foundation, while nurturing and developing musicality and expression through varied repertoire, and most importantly, encouraging a lifelong love for and appreciation of music!
