The Global Citizenship Series, or GCS as it is most commonly referred to, is a complex endeavour, which was started by a handful of dedicated lecturers and students of Hotelschool The Hague and is wholeheartedly supported by Susanne Stolte – President Board of Directors. For each seminar, a carefully selected keynote speaker sets the scene with fascinating insights into the event’s main theme, bef
ore diving into the exciting debates which form the second part of each seminar. Similar to the Dutch television programme “College Tour”, the keynote speakers are high-profile national and international authority figures in their own domains and bring invaluable knowledge to the debates. Next to this, the programme aims to bring back to the spotlight the essential debating and reasoning skills which are undeniably vital to any professional within the hospitality industry and further. Through a year-long program inclusive of training sessions and six official debates, those participating develop many key abilities such as effective idea formulation, fact sourcing, cross-applicability of information for supportive purposes, presentation skills, reasoning under stressful circumstances, diction and many others. The structure of GCS brings together many different people from various walks of life, such as HTH students, young professionals from various enterprises, industry experts, professors and public figures. This is what creates the unique GCS network and community, and truly brings out the value of being a global citizen. Professionally organised and led training sessions, hosted by our skilled lecturers ensure that each group is well prepared for each debate.
