Als bewegen en muziek je in het bloed zitten en je wordt aangetrokken door de prachtige wereld van de academische theaterdans (klassiek ballet en moderne dans), dan kun je hiervoor worden opgeleid op Koninklijk Conservatorium Dans. Om uiteindelijk een plaats te verwerven in één van de grote (inter-)nationale dansgezelschappen is het noodzakelijk vanaf tienjarige leeftijd een intensieve vakstudie t

e volgen, waarbij je iedere dag vele uren danst. In dit opzicht is een vergelijking met de topsport gerechtvaardigd. De bijzondere sfeer van de dansopleiding en de wereld van het professionele theater zorgen er al meer dan vijftig jaar voor dat leerlingen hun droom kunnen waarmaken. If moving and music are in your blood and if you are drawn by the beautiful world of academic theatre dance (classical ballet and modern dance), then you should come and train at Royal Conservatoire Dance, in The Hague. To eventually be able to acquire a position in one of the large national or international dance companies it is necessary to start your intensive training from the age of ten. You will dance many hours a day, in this respect, a comparison with top sports is fully justified. The special atmosphere at the dance department and in the world of professional theatre has made it possible that students can realise their dreams for over fifty years.

That’s a wrap on the Dance Intensive 2026!

For six days, young dancers aged 12–25 joined us at Royal Conservatoire Dance for an intensive week of classical and contemporary dance.

Together with our guest teachers and Royal Conservatoire Dance teachers, they worked on technique, repertoire and solos. The week ended on stage, with dancers performing a selection of solos and repertoire.

A big thank you to all dancers, teachers and coaches who made this week possible.

Our sincere thanks to The George Balanchine Foundation for their inspiring contribution to our End of Year Performances 2026, featuring Serenade by George Balanchine.

And a big thank you to all our pupils, students, teachers, pianists, staff, parents, families and audiences for making this season possible.

15, 16 & 17 juli De Eindvoorstellingen van Koninklijk Conservatorium Dans vormen de feestelijke afsluiting van het dansjaar. In het Danstheater van Amare presenteren leerlingen en studenten een veelzijdig programma met klassiek ballet, moderne dans, flamenco en werk van internationale choreografen.

Het programma brengt werk samen van gerenommeerde choreografen en makers uit het Koninklijk Conservatorium. Zo zijn Better Days van Aya Misaki en een nieuwe creatie van Garrett Smith speciaal gemaakt voor Koninklijk Conservatorium Dans. Daarnaast voeren de studenten een fragment uit Serenade van George Balanchine uit, evenals Pulse van Goyo Montero, Ambiguous Content van Craig Davidson en Travellous van Iratxe Ansa & Igor Bacovich. Ook presenteren zij nieuwe creaties van de eigen artistieke staf, waaronder werk van Mascha Meijman, Tessa Cooke, Esther Protzman, Isabelle Chaffaud en Britt van Santen.
Deze voorstellingen laten niet alleen zien wat de studenten hebben geleerd, maar ook hoe zij zich ontwikkelen als kunstenaars. Met nieuwsgierigheid, toewijding en vakmanschap verkennen zij uiteenlopende stijlen en artistieke perspectieven. Zo ontstaat een programma dat de verbinding laat zien tussen onderwijs en de professionele danspraktijk.

Deadline for applications: 1-6-’26

Royal Conservatoire, The Hague, Netherlands grants 3 scholarships.
ChoreoComp (Choreography & Composition) is an intensive, free, six-day course (31/8-5/9’26) for 3 choreographers and 3 composers who are interested in (speed) creating movement and music with live musicians and dancers. Choreographers who apply should be able to make fast decisions, improvise, work together/communicate clearly with the composers, musicians and dance ensemble and be practical when it comes to producing strategies.
After receiving an artistic assignment in the morning, the three choreographers will pair up with a new composer, new musicians and new dancers, every two days to work out a concept. Composers will work independently on these concepts together with their musicians in their studios in Amare while the choreographers work with dancers in the dance studios. At the end of the first day, a recording is made of the sketches so far by the composer so that the dancers can already start working with the sound. On the second-day composers/musicians and choreographers finish their work and rehearsals take place for the presentation in the evening. Every second day there is a performance of three new pieces!
ChoreoComp ’26 will be coached by a prominent choreographers/artistic director in Dance and composer/teacher Royal Conservatoire composition department (to announced on website soon)
Fees for the course will be granted by the Conservatoire. Travel & accommodation is at own expense.
