Shelter Main Lesson in Class 3
During the 9-year developmental shift, children recognize their independence and separation from the world. Thinking about the security of shelters and having the hands on experience of building these structures, gives them the support they need in this transition. It also allows for self-expression. They learn about different cultures building traditions and styles, as they put these techniques into practice.

“[The] school is personal and small. [The] staff, especially the class teacher, took personal consideration for our son and facilitated a good school day based on his academic level and his level of English. A warm welcome every morning. Clear and reliable communication with a well-organized school administration.”

The International Waldorf School The Hague is a primary school that welcomes children from all over the world, regardless of their cultural or religious backgrounds. The distinguishing feature of our school is our holistic educational approach. Physical education, handicrafts, the arts and respect for the natural world and each other are of equal importance to proficiency in mathematics and literacy. This balanced educational approach is what we call learning with head, heart and hands.

Children have a natural capacity to wonder and marvel at what they experience. Through curiously interacting with the world around them, children grow personally and find themselves in the world. We believe that school should provide children not just with the knowledge and skills to act effectively in the world, but that it should - first and foremost - be an environment where children can grow in their existence as human beings.

Would you like to learn more? Come to our Open Day on February 7th from 11-15.00. Or, email [email protected] for an appointment to tour the school and meet with one of our teachers.

‘ENGAGED TO CREATE A PEACEFUL WORLD’

Engaged

The International Waldorf School of The Hague is a non-profit international primary school with a distinct educational vision. Engagement with societal developments in sustainability, peace, justice, and wellbeing plays a key role in shaping our educational programme.

A Balanced Foundation

At the International Waldorf School, head, heart and hands are addressed in a healthy balance. Wonderment lays at the basis of our education; within our lessons we make optimal use of the natural curiosity inherent in children. At our school, we consider proficiency in mathematics and literacy to be of equal importance to physical education, handicrafts, art and respect for the natural world around us. The International Waldorf School distinguishes itself through the integration of cognitive and artistic education.
