A warm welcome to our new Master's students! 🌍

This week, 31 students from 20 different nationalities, from across the globe, including Iran, Korea, the United States, France, Germany, Greece, and India, came together in Amsterdam to begin their one-year journey with us.

From getting to know each other and exploring the city to visiting a range of luxury properties and the Municipality of Amsterdam, students gained valuable insights into the many stakeholders shaping the future of hospitality.

It has been an inspiring start to the academic year, and we look forward to seeing this diverse and talented group shape the future of hospitality.

"Grüezi, I’m Jamal Zaydan from Germany and I am currently in my second year at Hotelschool The Hague. I have completed my first internship at Orsini, the one Michelin-star fine dining restaurant located within the Mandarin Oriental in Zurich, Switzerland

This internship was not like any other placement for me, it was a real deep dive into the world of luxury hospitality at the highest level. Working in Orsini meant being part of an environment where every detail matters, every second counts, and every guest experience is crafted with precision. ✨

What made this experience truly special was that I was not only learning the operations of a Michelin-star restaurant, but also getting the chance to explore other departments within the hotel. This gave me a full picture of how a luxury property like Mandarin Oriental Savoy actually functions behind the scenes, something you only really understand once you experience it from the inside.

And then there was Zurich itself in summer, which honestly felt like part of the experience. The city completely changes: Lake Zurich becomes the center of everything, people spend their evenings outside, and the Old Town turns into a mix of energy, music, and life. After intense service days, walking through the city or along the lake made everything feel balanced and almost surreal at times. ☀️

Looking back, this internship challenged me, shaped me, and pushed me in the best way. It taught me how to stay calm under pressure, how to communicate clearly in a fast-paced luxury environment, and how important teamwork really is when standards are extremely high. Everything I learned at Hotelschool The Hague suddenly made sense in real life."

"Hey! My name is Mees Rierink, I am 21 years old and from the Netherlands. As part of my second-year practical placement at Hotelschool The Hague, I am currently completing my internship in the Food & Beverage department at W Bangkok, Thailand. 🇹🇭

During my placement, I have worked in different outlets, including Paii, The Kitchen Table, and Bar Sathorn, which is ranked among Asia’s 50 Best Bars. Through these rotations, I gained experience in fine dining, all-day dining, and luxury bar service while learning how important personalized guest experiences are in hospitality. 🌟

I also had the opportunity to join daily Food & Beverage meetings, where managers discussed hotel operations, guest feedback, and challenges across different outlets. This gave me valuable insight into leadership and the collaboration between departments beyond the restaurant floor.

One of the most valuable parts of this experience has been adapting to a completely different culture. Working alongside Thai colleagues taught me to be more patient, flexible, and open-minded. Living and working abroad challenged me to become more independent and step outside my comfort zone, both professionally and personally. 🙌

Bangkok has become much more than just my internship destination. It has given me unforgettable experiences, new friendships, and memories that I will carry with me long after my placement comes to an end." 🌍👥

Throwback to when the Wine Club at HTH took a trip to Champagne! 🍾🇫🇷

A group of HTH students spent an amazing weekend exploring renowned wine cellars and tasting rooms along the famous Avenue de Champagne, with visits to Épernay, Reims, and Desbrosse. 🍇🍾

From discovering the rich heritage of the region to enjoying some exceptional tastings, it was a trip to remember! ✨

🌍 A new Fast Track journey has officially begun: Welcome to the newest cohort of international Fast Track students!

Last Saturday, we were excited to welcome 50 Fast Track students to the campus in The Hague. During the introduction weekend, they had the opportunity to get to know each other, meet their student coordinators, and settle into life at Skotel.

Throughout the summer, these students will follow an intensive four-week preparation course, marking the beginning of their accelerated 2.5-year study journey. This programme is designed to fast-track them into the second year of the regular bachelor's degree.

Meet Dorian ! 🌟 Our student Dorian Lohest is currently completing his F&B Practical Placement at the iconic Huka Lodge in Taupo, New Zealand, and just got rewarded as Employee of the month. 🎉👏

Huka Lodge is set among 17-acres of established, parklike gardens along the banks of the emerald-blue Waikato River near Lake Taupō on New Zealand’s North Island. With humble beginnings more than a century ago as a fisher’s camp with white canvas tents pegged along the trout-rich river, Huka Lodge has today secured its place as one of the country’s oldest and most celebrated luxury lodges.🌿💙

Hello everyone! My name is Luis, I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, and I also hold Spanish nationality. I am currently in my fourth year at HTH, where I am completing my LYCAR internship at Unilever within the Employer Branding team.

Working at Unilever has been an incredible experience so far, as it has given me the opportunity to truly use my creativity in a professional environment. As part of my role, I create engaging content for Unilever Careers Benelux, showcasing the company’s culture, people, and what it’s really like to work at a global company. One skill I have definitely taken from HTH into my internship is communication. HTH has taught me how to collaborate effectively, think creatively, and confidently present ideas, all of which have helped me during my internship experience.
