HERE'S THE SECRET TO MY CONSISTENCY. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I consider consistency to be the number one thing that will take us to fluency. It is the skill we need to focus on developing.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I mean you can have the best methods, apps, resources, tutors, you name it...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
BUT if you are not consistency then all of that is useless.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are 2 things That I always take very seriously in order to be consistent: Planning and accountability.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Making sure to get the tools and the support I need in order to learn a language is a high priority for me, since it will guarantee that I will actually use the resources I need in order to improve.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How do you guys stay consistent?

"When learning a language, what is more relevant… motivation or discipline?", a friend asked me the other day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I say both, because is the sweet spot where motivation and discipline meet where the magic happens. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How to be more motivated: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⭐ Set an inspiring goal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⭐ Meet regularly with like minded people. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⭐ Keep a track of your progress. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How to improve your discipline: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
☑ Plan ahead.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
☑ Build strong habits (one at the time) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
☑ Find an accountability partner. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Set in motion a routine that gives you enough push to keep learning languages in a challenging way, but also enough breaks and fun activities to keep you falling in love with that language and culture. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What's harder for you, motivation or discipline?

I don't have all the answers, but my community does...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yup, sometimes I don't know how to help you. I can't recommend resources for a language I've never learned or explain a learning technique I've never used. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can only talk from my experience and what has worked for me! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
HOWEVER, I have made it a priority in my life to surround myself (virtually) with people from all around the world with all types of language learning experience. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
like how I can always count on .languages to give me proper study advice and recommend me great music and resources to learn Japanese. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
who is the most consistent learner I've ever met, she's always there to give me the motivation I need to keep going. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And of course to inspire me with her travel stories and occurrences. She is so much fun and such a talented creator ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I meet regularly with them to study and practice Spanish together. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am always so excited the days I get to talk to them because I know we will have a deep and hilarious conversation in Spanish about society, culture, language learning and personal growth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The value ✨ of learning with the community is in the exchange of languages, thoughts, experiences and culture...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So is learning with the community worth it? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
YES! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
100%⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
ABSOLUTELY ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To learn about other people's culture, points of view... But also to be supported and build amazing friendships with people that JUST GET IT! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just give it a try, and open your heart to all the wonders of learning along with others, I promise you won't regret it🤗⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ps. Gracias Rebecca, Michelle y Addie, por ser tan cool y por ser parte de esta comunidad. Realmente aprecio y valoro cada una de nuestras charlas💙

My top 3 favorite productivity apps!

I know we hear this a lot, but time is really the most precious asset we all have.

We can never turn the clock back and get more of it — even though I really wish I could sometimes.

So to use my time efficiently as much as possible, here are my top 3 tools I use to stay organized in my language learning and make every minute count:

1. is how I do my time blocking and task management for my life and business. Here's where all my appointments will appear, including language exchanges and weekly group calls.

2. I use this app whenever I want to keep track of my study and use the pomodoro 🍅 technique to really focus.

3. : as you know I am obsessed with creating study plans. Notion is the only site/app where I had all the freedom to create study plans MY WAY.

Give them a try and le me know what you think.

Learning multiple languages at once may not be for you — and that's FINE🖖

So I figured I'll give you some questions to help you figure out if learning multiple languages at once is gonna work for you RIGHT NOW 💙

1. Are you Okey with progressing slower? The more languages you learn the more likely you'll learn slower —which isn't a bad thing AT ALL! but you must be OK with diving your time and resources into different languages.

2. Do you have AT LEAST 🕑 20 minutes a day for each language?? So you can study then!

3. Do you have at least 2 hours every week to study passively each languagep? Aka watch a movie, listen to podcast, read...

4. Do you have at least 30 minutes a week to practice each of your target languages? Aka writing and speaking?

Remember to be honest with yourself when answering these questions, look at your schedule, see when you'll fit the time with this languages.

Ps: I do not count maintaining languages, I only maintain languages like 20 to 60 min every other week.

If you do have the time and you loooveeee so many languages you can't choose, then by all means GO AHEAD learn them all 🇧🇪🇧🇷🇩🇪🇨🇵🇪🇦🇮🇹🇯🇵🇳🇱

If not, then pick the language that's the most relevant to you at the moment and learn it with all your heart and Truly give it all you have!!

So, What type of learner are you...

1️⃣ Language at the time
or 🔢 multiple languages at once?

I am 🔢 all the way!!

My mind can't focus on just one... I just can't...

Consistent learners have been keeping a secret from us...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The one thing that set consistent learners apart is PURPOSE!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Purpose goes beyond just having a reason WHY we learn languages.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is the intentional practice of finding the most personal benefits of learning a language.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Is a goal that goes above a beyond. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Having purpose means knowing what you want, why you want it and how to get there with your routine.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3 ways to have more purpose in your language learning:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. find the benefits of studying RIGHT NOW: for example, taking 30 mins everyday to do Pimsleur relaxes me, getting to meet with my friends for our study sessions...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Change the question: Don't ask your self "why am I learning?" change the question to "What for?" and you'll find the real reason behind your learning.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Create an intentional routine: If your routine and your purpose align consistency will be the easiest thing to do.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How do you motivate yourself to study everyday? I keep a post-it that says: "You can help others to learn if you're not constantly learning." Every time I read it I get all the motivation I need.

Have you ever felt overwhelmed and lost for seemingly no reason? I know I have 🙋‍♀️I think the mistake we all make, is t...

Have you ever felt overwhelmed and lost for seemingly no reason? I know I have 🙋‍♀️

I think the mistake we all make, is thinking that writing ONCE a nice reason WHY we learn languages is enough...

when in reality what we need are CONSTANT reminders of our goals and intentions.

Most of you probably have a nice goal for the year or for the month. BUT 🤔 how many of you sit on a regular basis to review that goal and make sure you're actually on the right path to achieve it.

I, personally, like to do it weekly... with a reset routine.🔁

but, what is a reset routine? the monthly, weekly or daily habit of cleaning, planning, simplifying, prioritizing and reflecting. So we can get that feeling of having our 💩 together and focus on what really matters. 💫

This way we never lose sight of WHY we want to learn and WHAT's the outcome we want to achieve.

Remember that: Purpose is what fuels our routines and makes our habits stick.

SO, we must make sure to be reminded of our purpose as much as we possibly can. Some of the things I do when I reset:

☑️ Reflect on my week and progress.

☑️ Eliminate everything unnecessary from my routine.

☑️ Clean my work/study space.

☑️ Plan the following week.

☑️ Review my goals, intentions, habits and even mindset.

And the best part is that it only takes me 15 to 20 min to sit down and reflect in order to have a week's worth of motivation and consistency.

In fact, I don't think it is about being obsessed with our goals but to simply acknowledge them every now and then to make sure we are setting ourselves up for success.

If we don't take time to review what we've accomplish and identify the areas of struggle, our language learning journey will be an uphill battle.

and we will find ourselves in a constant battle for motivation, willing power and, oftentimes, feeling unempowered and lost.

So I dare you to take a few minutes this week to reflect on your goals and habits. Try it out and see if it helps you.

so, how often do you guys review your progress? I do it on a weekly AND monthly basis! 👩‍🦰☑

PS: If you want to learn more about this topic simply 🔎search on YouTube "reset routine" and get inspired —you're welcome ;)

Is all about routines...

I don't think you should pick one or the other I think goals and systems complement each other.

A Goal give you a direction and should inspire us but we make some mistakes when setting them, like...

❌ Focusing on levels and time.
❌ Putting to much pressure on them.
❌ Setting goals too many goals.

Setting goals is something that should be created with the heart 💙 to motivate us.

We should keep our goals emotional and our systems rational.

Our routine is the single most important part of your learning because that's what makes you be consistent...

And being consistent is what we want!

Consisntecy means we learn more and we get to spend more time learning languages.

So here's what I do:

1️⃣ I pick a main language to focus on.

2️⃣ I set a goal that is emotional and fun.

3️⃣ I ask myself... What do I need to improve to achieve that goal.

4️⃣ Then I create a routine focused on the skills I need to improve.

Note: I create plans focused on three skills that will lead me to achieve that goal.

5️⃣ I include accountability partners and join study groups.

Then I will learn for 6 to 12 weeks and then take a break. That way I don't burn out... Again.

I have my first plan for 2021 ready!

I will begin on January 11th and I am so excited.

leave a 🎉 if you are ready to study languages in the new year.

I don't know it all... I don't claim to have the fastest, best, most efficient language learning technique. 🤷🏻‍♀️⁣

Every single trick, advice and hack comes from my own personal experience, from my trial and error. What works for me! ⁣

And as soon as I try something new I share it with you... on YouTube. ⁣

And so far it has been great,
But there's a problem.

My strategies and techniques are in constant evolution 🌱🌿🌳🍃 ⁣

I am always looking to make my language learning:⁣

📲More effective, ⁣
🎉More fun, ⁣
📄Or simpler to implement. ⁣

And now, when I look back at my videos👀 I find a lot of outdated content that don't match my current ideas. ⁣

So, a while ago, I decided that I needed to find a platform that evolves with me. ⁣

A platform where I could update my advice and tips 🚫 without any algorithm getting in the way. ⁣

A place where I can always share my most useful and actionable tips. ⁣
I searched for MONTHS but still couldn't find anything that worked.⁣

So... I created my own! 👩🏻‍🏫 ⁣

And, I included everything a language lover needs: ⁣

☑️No BS advice⁣
☑️weekly language practice⁣
☑️Fun events ⁣
☑️the support of a committed community. ⁣

Now I am obsessed with talking to my friends there and trying to make each piece of training the absolute best it can possibly be. ⁣

So will I ditch youtube? No, not at all there's still A LOT to love about it, and I still have A LOT to share over there. ⁣ ⁣

YouTube will remain a creative place for my raw experiences, first tries, routines and honest talks. ⁣

But if you want the nitty-gritty, my latest discoveries and updated advice that's what The Polyglot Union is for 💙

Leave me a 📚 if you want to know more about this platform and discover all my latest techniques.
