Have you ever felt overwhelmed and lost for seemingly no reason? I know I have 🙋♀️
I think the mistake we all make, is thinking that writing ONCE a nice reason WHY we learn languages is enough...
when in reality what we need are CONSTANT reminders of our goals and intentions.
Most of you probably have a nice goal for the year or for the month. BUT 🤔 how many of you sit on a regular basis to review that goal and make sure you're actually on the right path to achieve it.
I, personally, like to do it weekly... with a reset routine.🔁
but, what is a reset routine? the monthly, weekly or daily habit of cleaning, planning, simplifying, prioritizing and reflecting. So we can get that feeling of having our 💩 together and focus on what really matters. 💫
This way we never lose sight of WHY we want to learn and WHAT's the outcome we want to achieve.
Remember that: Purpose is what fuels our routines and makes our habits stick.
SO, we must make sure to be reminded of our purpose as much as we possibly can. Some of the things I do when I reset:
☑️ Reflect on my week and progress.
☑️ Eliminate everything unnecessary from my routine.
☑️ Clean my work/study space.
☑️ Plan the following week.
☑️ Review my goals, intentions, habits and even mindset.
And the best part is that it only takes me 15 to 20 min to sit down and reflect in order to have a week's worth of motivation and consistency.
In fact, I don't think it is about being obsessed with our goals but to simply acknowledge them every now and then to make sure we are setting ourselves up for success.
If we don't take time to review what we've accomplish and identify the areas of struggle, our language learning journey will be an uphill battle.
and we will find ourselves in a constant battle for motivation, willing power and, oftentimes, feeling unempowered and lost.
So I dare you to take a few minutes this week to reflect on your goals and habits. Try it out and see if it helps you.
so, how often do you guys review your progress? I do it on a weekly AND monthly basis! 👩🦰☑
