In this unique historical moment, we cannot embrace us, shake hands or simply speak standing next to each other. We are experiencing how vital physical and visual contact is, how much this serves to balance our emotions, to make sense of our relationships. How comforting a kiss or a hug is when we are worried, sad or need help.
And I understood the meaning of my job as a baby wearing consultant.
We adults, human beings, ripe, deprived of contact with each other, feel so ... lost ... imagine a newborn made of pure emotions, raised in the warm mother's womb, how much he needs contact, containment. How fundamental it is for him, for his emotional and cognitive development, to be carry in continuity with mother’s or father’s body.
I think of all the times I have been told that it was "too much", that children should be left to cry, to resolve their emotions by themselves and that a caress would spoil them.
Well ... now we all understand how healthy, vital, natural, human, exciting, simple, comfortable, rewarding and ... beautiful, physical contact is.
Carry your babies in a wrap and, if you want I can teach you to do it with love and safety.
