Creating is playing- free, bold, calm, whimsical, muted, colourful, structured or wild, pretty, or not. Most importantly: it’s time spent with your own voice and intuition, your own joy, grief, or your very own empty mind. Art develops, like most skills, but so does your judgement- or the absence of it. Because even if you’d like to create some meaningful, beautiful, if you’ve spend a few moments just with yourself and your wonderful imagination, that’s more than enough. ❤️

If you have a (pre-)teen (ages 10–14) who loves to experiment, create, and try new things, registration is officially open!

Wild Cats is a judgment-free, bi-weekly space where kids can learn cool techniques, make friends, and just BE.

What we’ll explore:
🎨 Painting techniques & mixed media
🧵 Textile art & collage
🖤 Lino printing & stamping
✏️ Portraits, shadows & sketching
🌿 Botanical inks & nature art
🖨️ Gelli plate printing
🏺 Sculpting with clay

This week I am honored to assist Smart Start Kids with their amazing summer camp! Nature week is a full success so far, and today we’ve learned about trees and seeds (and the animals that, ahem, “distribute”, the seeds by digesting them) and the big circle of life - and what kind of tree we’d be if we could choose. We had a lot of Christmas trees (for the obvious reasons of: gifts), a tall palm tree, a bonsai, cherry blossoms, a mango tree, oaks…
Strong roots, free leaves in the wind ❤️

I’m curios to see the kids faces when I tell them they can print with paprika and mushrooms tomorrow 😁

Nature = the absolute best inspiration ever! And it's FREE!

On your next walk - whether it’s a dog walk, a stroll at the beach, your forest jog, or just the way to work - collect 3 things from nature.

Leaves, stones, sticks, feathers, shells...

Bring them home and just admire their beauty: the structures, the textures, the colours. Then grab your notebook! Maybe make a quick 2-minute sketch, or dive into a full-on watercolour masterpiece inspired by what you found.

And if you dare, share them with me 😍

It was quiet at Wild Minds Creative… at least online.

In the real world, things were anything but quiet. It was BUSY - filled with unexpected challenges, beautiful opportunities, creative chaos, and so many fun and precious moments.

My health has been a bit of a journey (and still is), but I’m taking care of myself and I’ll be okay. Then came summer:
end-of-school-year madness with goodbyes, celebrations, events, things to organise, places to be… honestly, I was simply exhausted 🤯.

But looking back, I am grateful for all the creative opportunities I’ve created, discovered, and been part of.

For being part of the summer school at , my regular Wild Minds classes, birthday workshops, and my work as a museum educator at .
So many different worlds, so many different people, so many moments of connection and creativity.

And of course, all the everyday magic that happens outside of work: family moments ❤️, long walks with my neighbours’ dogs, sunshine, cuddles, friendships, and making time and space for my own creative adventures - lino printing, writing, watercolour practice, collage, clay… I’m doing it ALL.

So no, I haven’t disappeared. Wild Minds Creative is very much alive, and there are lots of exciting things coming from September onwards!

My regular classes will start again, Museum Adventures will return, and there’s something completely new coming for your (pre-)teens: WILD CATS: creative workshops for the not so little ones.

More info about everything coming soon! But for now: enjoy the summer, soak up that vitamin D, embrace the chaos of bored kids (you’ve got this 😉), and remember to make a little time and space just for yourself, too.

Thinking BIG 🌹
The kids created these incredible, oversized floral wallhangers using acrylics on massive sheets of chunky packing paper. Tackling a project this size is a wonderful lesson in step-by-step planning, spatial awareness, and time management.
We *might* have recruited the arriving parents for a little bit of heavy-duty scissor help right at the finish line 😅 but together, it all worked out beautifully.
It takes a village 😆

The first time I posted about Coco the koala was early 2023, and yes, he is still with us. 🥹 Kids grow older, they change, inevitably, but some things just stay the same. A few years from now, maybe Coco will end up in a drawer somewhere, almost forgotten.
But for now, even in these almost-teenager times, he’s right here. Just look at him! Observing from the sidelines and quietly enjoying the hustle and bustle of our busy workroom. And honestly? I am absolutely here for it 🩷🐨

A snapshot from one of my favorite Museum Adventures at the Escher in Het Paleis. There is such a specific magic in watching a group decode impossible geometries and seeing that spark when they spot something hidden in the lines.

While these moments with kids are always a highlight, I’m so looking forward to bringing that same spirit of exploration to my next session for adults! We’re trading Escher’s illusions for the camera lens as we dive into the "Momentary Forever" exhibition at the Fotomuseum Den Haag.
