INTRODUCING KFA FOCUS

At Kyokushin Fight Academy, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to experience the benefits of karate.

KFA Focus is a dedicated programme for children with disabilities or additional support needs who benefit from more personal attention and guidance. In a small, safe and supportive environment, each child can develop at their own pace.

The sessions focus on confidence, coordination, discipline and—most importantly—the enjoyment of movement and personal growth.

Every Saturday | 09:00–09:45
Verdilaan 196, Spijkenisse
Led by Sensei Vijay Nanhoe

Would you like to know whether KFA Focus is suitable for your child? Please contact us for further information.

KFA BOXING IS EXPANDING

Following the continued development of our boxing programme, we are adding an additional weekly training session on Tuesday.

The sessions combine technical boxing instruction with fitness, strength, coordination and resilience. Whether you are taking your first steps in boxing or want to continue developing your skills, you are welcome to train within KFA’s disciplined and supportive environment.

Every Tuesday | 18:30–20:00
Verdilaan 196, Spijkenisse
Led by Ryan Schoonhoven

Our regular Friday boxing sessions will continue as usual.

Interested in joining KFA Boxing? Contact us for further information or registration.

Repetition is where difficulty disappears.

A technique is not mastered when you can perform it once.
It is mastered when the body responds before the mind has time to hesitate.

One turn.
One target.
One heel.
Thousands of repetitions.

Until timing becomes instinct.
Until precision becomes natural.
Until difficult becomes automatic.

This is the Kyokushin way.

SENSEI’S NOTEBOOK — No. 004 | Osu

In Kyokushin, few words are spoken as often as Osu.

We say it when we enter the dojo.
When Sensei gives an instruction.
When a training partner challenges us.
When we are tired.
And when we are asked for one more.

But Osu should never become an automatic response.

押 — push.
忍 — endure.

Together, they have come to represent an attitude deeply rooted in Kyokushin: perseverance, patience, respect, and the willingness to continue when training becomes difficult.

Because the true meaning of Osu is not found in how loudly we say it.

It is found in how we behave after saying it.

Do not let Osu become a habit of the mouth.
Let it become a habit of character.

What does Osu mean to you?

5,000 strong.

What began as a vision has grown into a community connected by discipline, courage and the pursuit of excellence.

Every student who stepped onto the tatami.
Every parent who placed their trust in us.
Every coach, supporter and athlete who carried the KFA spirit beyond our dojo.

This milestone belongs to all of you.

We are proud of how far we have come—but even more inspired by what we are still building together.

One Academy. One Community. 5,000 Strong.

SENSEI’S NOTEBOOK — No. 003 | The White Belt

Every karateka begins in the same place.

A white belt carries no titles, no victories and no reputation. It asks only for the courage to enter the dojo and the humility to learn.

With time, the colour may change. Technique improves. Experience grows. Perhaps one day, that same belt becomes black.

But progress brings a new responsibility: never losing the willingness to be a beginner.

In Japanese philosophy, this is 初心 — Shoshin: the beginner’s mind. To remain curious. To listen carefully. To approach even familiar lessons as though there is still something to discover.

Because the greatest danger in learning is not knowing too little.

It is believing we already know enough.

初心忘るべからず。
Never forget the beginner’s mind.

What can a black belt still learn from a white belt?

🇳🇱 KFA ON DUTCH NATIONAL TELEVISION 📺

Another milestone for the Kyokushin Fight Academy.

Today, we had the opportunity to represent our Academy and Kyokushin karate on Dutch national television, as Ya- Maisa appeared on ZappSport in Amsterdam, supported by Sensei Vijay and Angel as her coaches.

Moments like these reflect what we are building at KFA.

Beyond developing strong athletes, our ambition is to create opportunities, raise the standard and bring Kyokushin to bigger stages. Today was another opportunity to present our sport to a nationwide audience and show the discipline, confidence and character behind karate.

We are proud of Ya Maisa for stepping onto this stage and representing our Academy with confidence.

From the dojo to the national stage. We keep building.🥋🇳🇱

The full episode will be released later this year. Of course, we’ll make sure you know when it goes live. 📺

A calm mind sees everything.

In Kyokushin, strength is not only measured by how hard you strike — but by how clearly you can see when the pressure rises.

When the body is tired.
When the distance closes.
When the fight becomes chaos.

Stay calm.
See clearly.
Then act.

静けさの中に、強さがある。
In stillness, there is strength.

SENSEI’S NOTEBOOK — No. 002 | The Bow

In Kyokushin, we begin with a bow and we end with a bow.

It may last only a moment, but it carries something fundamental: respect for the dojo, for our teachers, for our training partners, and for the opportunity to learn.

Before kumite, we bow to the person who will challenge us. Afterward—regardless of victory, defeat, exhaustion or pain—we bow again.

Because an opponent is not an enemy. They are someone who helps reveal where we are strong, where we are vulnerable, and where we still have to grow.

礼に始まり、礼に終わる。
Begin with respect. End with respect.

What happens between those two bows is our responsibility.

What does the bow mean to you?

THE ART OF KARATE.

Strength is easy to see.
Precision takes a trained eye.

Ross Jones performing Pinan Sono Go — where movement, balance, timing and control become one.

Kata is more than a sequence of techniques.
It is karate expressed as an art form.

Every stance has purpose.
Every transition has rhythm.
Every technique has intention.

Not simply performed.
Refined.

Welcome to the Kyokushin Fight Academy.

A place where every journey begins the same way.

With a white belt.

Within these walls, children train alongside national champions, European champions and World Champions.

Not because they have earned the same experience—

but because they share the same tatami, the same respect, and the same commitment to improve.

Kyokushin Karate is one of the world’s most demanding styles of karate.

It asks for discipline before talent.

Character before recognition.

Perseverance when no one is watching.

At the Kyokushin Fight Academy, we believe that karate is about far more than learning how to fight.

It is about learning how to carry yourself—with humility, resilience and respect—both inside and outside the dojo.

Our Academy has welcomed students, instructors and athletes from around the world, creating an international community united by a shared passion for Kyokushin.

Different languages.

Different cultures.

One spirit.

Every training session is another opportunity to learn.

Every challenge is another opportunity to grow.

And every person who steps onto our tatami contributes to the culture we are proud to protect.

Whether you are taking your very first step into Kyokushin or preparing for the highest level of international competition, you will always be welcome at the Kyokushin Fight Academy.

Osu.
