Integrating Thinking is a neurodevelopmental and functional education & training organisation. We teach about the importance of neurodevelopment in the first three to five years of life; how our natural developmental processes help train the brain and grow the mind preparing us for learning success and better functioning as we grow older. We teach, mentor and assist educators, allied health profes

sionals and others in interpreting the learning stories the body can tell us about how our students/children/clients are using their bodies to learn. If the body isn't supporting learning through mature and well developed functional processes, it can interfere with learning success. We see it in children with learning challenges, adults with difficulties in work and social situations and other areas of life. We use and teach non-invasive neurodevelopmental approaches that help develop, support and assist the children, and families, with whom we work to enhance function and learning potential. Using neuroplasticity principles (the brain's natural ability to change itself and the way it works), we can address neurodevelopmental learning and functional challenges and improve them for our clients. Our professional learning programmes help educate others about this crucial aspect of learning and how we learn. how to read the body language of learning & how we learn), the learning challenges associated with this immaturity, and how to address those difficulties from a neurodevelopmental perspective. From the moment we are born, our body responds to our environment and learns to adapt and survive within that environment. In utero, nature wired and primed us for that survival and learning process. Our first method of learning (which starts in utero) is through movement and our experiences/interactions with the world. Neuro-motor and sensory immaturity can occur when early movements and developmental sequences don't completely fulfil their physiological and neurological purpose. This can result in children experiencing difficulty sitting still, developing complete and thorough coordination and body control, developing fine motor skills, developing adequate eye control and visual function to assist learning tasks including reading, writing and comprehension. In addition, their sensory systems may not be well integrated, presenting problems learning and dealing with a highly sensory-based world, including complex learning environments. Integrating Thinking:
* Provides professional learning about neuromotor and sensory development and its role in learning and function through our Body to Brain Learning Professional Development Series.
* Uses and teaches drug-free and non-invasive programmes to match the individual's neuro-developmental and listening profile to support learning.
* Is the official training organisation for the INPP method in Australia.
* Provides CPD aligned with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
* Helps teachers connect this approach with the Australian Curriculum and inclusive education strategies for delivery and reporting requirements.
* Identifies and addresses underlying problems of neuro-motor immaturity and auditory processing difficulties.
* Provides a limited number of clinical assessments for children and adults using standardised neurological tests and listening audiometry assessments. Dr Christine Payard (PhD) is the Director and Founder of Integrating Thinking and the Body to Brain Learning Professional Development Series. This page provides updates on our Neurodevelopmental training opportunities, including the INPP Method and The Body to Brain Learning Professional Development Series, fascinating brain and body facts, and food for thought regarding ways to enhance and improve learning. If the body doesn't support learning and function, it can interfere with our learning and functional abilities.

Physical literacy isn't about being sporty. It's about whether a body can read itself, and write its own next move.

That's the lens Body to Brain Learning @ School was built on. We come at this work from the classroom, not just the clinic, because that's where these things actually show up: the child who can't quite settle after lunch, the one who seems to act before they think, the one who's trying hard and still finding it hard!

A physically literate body isn't necessarily the most coordinated one. It's the one that can sense what's happening internally, and choose what to do about it, on purpose. That's a skill. Like any skill, it can be built, and schools are one of the best places to build it.

We're here to support educators and schools with the tools to make that happen, practical, evidence-informed, and grounded in what actually works in a real classroom!

It's an honour to work with people who are so dedicated to making life better for their clients... especially in the field of neurodevelopmental therapy.

Today I got to spend time with Kellie from Unlock Learning and Health and Nadine from Integrated Learning Kinesiology 🥰 There was so much to listen to, share and learn about their busy practices.

The best gift as a teacher is watching people you've taught take the material and knowledge you've shared with them and watching them grow it and share it with the world. 🙏

Thanks for a great opportunity Kellie and Nadine. 🙂

When it comes to learning, sometimes you need to do something different to help move things along...

📝Notes from the field: reflections - #2

👉We're not asking students to think more.
👉We're not asking them to analyse or apply information.
👉We're not asking them to memorise and recite.

We just get them to move — using neurodevelopmental movements. And by doing that, we help their nervous system "reboot," so they can access learning opportunities more effectively.

Sometimes the most powerful intervention isn't more instruction — it's the right neurodevelopmental movement for where a child actually is. And it's not something we pull out as a response when things go wrong. It happens the same way, every day — steadily supporting and strengthening the nervous system.

Worth a repost I think. 🤔

We are born with brains that are wired to develop according to our experience and opportunity.

If, as adults, we rush childhood experiences for our children, we run the risk of reducing the impact of those learning opportunities and experiences.

Rushing childhood so that children can become more adult-like, mature and regulated, isn’t just unfair, it’s neurodevelopmentally inappropriate.

Physical literacy is becoming an increasingly important conversation in education.

But for many schools, the question isn't why it matters.

It's...

"What does it actually look like in the classroom?"

That's where Body to Brain Learning @ School™ comes in.

Our program takes the principles of physical literacy and translates them into practical, everyday teaching strategies.

Through purposeful movement, we help schools strengthen the developmental foundations that support not only physical competence, but also attention, confidence, self-regulation, participation and learning.

Because physical literacy isn't another subject.

It isn't another initiative.

It's a way of understanding that children learn best when their brains and bodies work together.

Body to Brain Learning @ School™ helps schools bring that understanding to life.

I've been working with this school, it's staff and the B2BL@S Facilitator who is mentoring the school for a while now.

Can't beat these sorts of results. Making a difference where it counts.

Well done Djidi Djidi Aboriginal School in WA. 👏👏👏👏👏
Yay Bronwyn Mumme, Karen Augustson, Djidi Djidi staff and students.

Tegan Piacentini is the one to reach out to in WA. Unlock Learning and Health in NSW and me anywhere else in Australia.

I love this quote from Karen Augustson, Principal of Djidi Djidi Aboriginal School in WA. They've been implementing the Body to Brain Learning @ School approach for a few years now.

Their story is a great one and we're super proud to have been a part of that journey for their school, teachers, and especially their students.

Can't beat these results and reports 🎉🎉💃

If you want to know more about B2BL@S, reach out.

For my Far North Queensland network, here's something worth passing on if you know a school leader up this way.

I've spent years working across neurodevelopmental practice and education systems, and one pattern keeps showing up: the learning challenges schools spend the most energy on are often framed as a student who won't engage, or a teacher who needs to improve their practice. But sometimes neither is true. Rather, a student's nervous system that isn't developmentally ready for what's being asked of it in a teaching situation can't engage easily. That often looks like misbehaviour or disengagement. That's not blaming the child or the teacher. It's naming a mismatch, so it can be seen, named, and addressed.

I'm running a session on exactly this on August 4th in Cairns, with two Body to Brain Learning @ School Regional Facilitators, Terry Davidson and Nadine Vielle (Integrated Learning Kinesiology). If you're a Principal or school leader in FNQ, or know one who'd value a genuinely different perspective on this, I'd love to see them there. Tag/share this with someone it might be useful for.
