From fluorescent to future-ready

At The Outlook parking garage, part of a multitenant office building owned by Schiphol Real Estate and located at Schiphol Business District, Veko was commissioned by Equans Nederland to carry out a large-scale renovation project: replacing 777 luminaires. The Outlook houses tenants such as Microsoft, Avolta, Cargill, Spaces, and Dutch Customs. The unique aspect of this project? The original light lines remained in place, only the luminaires were swapped. We also integrated central emergency lighting into the solution for added safety and peace of mind.

All work was completed while the parking garage remained operational, allowing staff and visitors to continue using the facility with minimal disruption.

Renovation doesn’t have to mean downtime. With Veko, it means progress, one luminaire at a time.

“Helping customers qualitative and seeing it turn into an order, that’s what gives me energy.” — Pascalle, Commercial Sales Support

Pascalle joined Veko in August 2017 after reconnecting with a former colleague who was already working for the company. What started as an informal coffee conversation soon turned into a new opportunity. “The role I was hired for didn’t even exist yet. Together with the team, I built it from the ground up and that makes me incredibly proud.”

Today, Pascalle works in Commercial Sales Support and manages the entire sales mailbox for the Dutch market. From small orders and spare parts to questions from customers, installers and colleagues. the role is broad, fast-paced and central to the sales process. “I like being close to customers and colleagues. Quick responses and clear communication really make a difference.”

The moments she values most are when service, speed and trust come together. “When a customer requests a price and places an order shortly after, you know you’ve done something right. The customer is happy and so are we.” That sense of achievement is what drives her every day.

Looking back, Pascalle is proud of how her role has grown within the organisation. “What started as a small set of tasks has become a fully established and essential role. Seeing how it has developed over the years, alongside Veko itself, gives me a lot of satisfaction.”

Outside of work, Pascalle enjoys spending time with her family and getting outdoors for long walks in nature. “Being outside helps me recharge and clear my head, it gives me fresh energy for the next workday.”

For Pascalle, Veko stands for progress. “We keep moving forward in products, knowledge and as a team. And it feels good to know you’ve played a part in building that.”

"Working remotely doesn’t mean working alone.” — Julia, Calculator Nordics

Julia joined Veko after studying lighting design within architectural lighting. Looking for a strong start to her career and a chance to grow technically, Veko quickly stood out. “I wanted to develop my technical skills and really understand lighting in practice. At Veko, I get the support and trust to do that.”

Based in Sweden, Julia works as a Calculator for the Nordic market. Her days often start at home with a coffee and her calculations, but her role is anything but isolated. “Even though I work remotely, I’m constantly in touch with colleagues and customers. And I regularly visit the Netherlands or meet teammates in the Nordics. That connection is important to me.”
What surprised her most? “The smart solutions and the wide variety of projects I had the opportunity to visit and learn from.""

One moment she’ll always remember is seeing her first calculation turn into a real project. “That was when it truly clicked. What we do on paper actually comes to life.”

For Julia, Veko is a place to learn, grow and connect. “We may be a small team in the Nordics, but we’re building something big together.”

Our Marketing department is the voice of Veko, both inside and outside the company. We make sure everyone knows what’s happening, from project videos to product launches.
Internally, we keep our colleagues connected through Vecom, our intranet, where teams share updates and celebrate success stories. Externally, we craft campaigns that build awareness, launch new products, and strengthen our brand especially in growing markets like Germany.

We’re storytellers, strategists, and bridge builders between departments. Whether it’s a video shoot at a customer site, a brand awareness campaign, or improving our website experience, we make sure the message is clear: who Veko is, what we do, and why we do it.

The atmosphere? Creative, hands-on, and full of energy. We work closely with Sales and R&D, and no two weeks are ever the same. From brainstorming ideas to bringing them to life, Marketing keeps the light on at Veko. ✨

How waterproof is a luminaire really?

That’s exactly what we test in our IP testing room.
During this test, water is sprayed at the luminaire for 15 minutes at a rate of 12,5 L/min, while the luminaire rotates to expose every side. After heating up and cooling down, a vacuum effect occurs, creating the ultimate “worst case scenario.”
Then comes the moment of truth: we open the luminaire to check if water has penetrated.
