Today, our Grade 11 students had their TOK Exhibition for parents, staff and other students.

Visitors had the opportunity to engage with students as they explained the significance of their objects and how they connect to the nature of knowledge. A fantastic display of curiosity, critical thinking, and confident communication—well done, Grade 11!

Creativity took center stage at this year's RISS Arts Festival!

From incredible singing, energetic dance performances, and captivating drama productions to a stunning exhibition of student artwork, our talented students showcased their passion, creativity, and hard work.

A huge thank you to everyone who performed, exhibited their work, and helped make this event such a memorable celebration of the arts. We couldn't be prouder of our amazing school community!

🇧🇪 Belgium Trip - Day 4 🏰

Our final day took us to the beautiful city of Bruges, where students explored the historic town and browsed the local shops and enjoyed some Belgian treats.

A huge thank you to our students for representing the school so well throughout the trip. The memories, friendships, and experiences made this week will stay with them for years to come.

🇧🇪 Belgium Trip - Day 3 🌺

Today was a powerful day of learning, reflection and remembrance.

We began by exploring the history of the First World War, learning about the significance of Ypres, the Flanders region, and the moving words of In Flanders Fields. A visit to the museum gave our students an eye-opening insight into the realities of the war. One can even see this in the “Silent Witness” tree in Elverdinge - a 235 year old tree that survived the shelling of the winter of 1917–1918, growing new wood over the scars left by shrapnel and bullets.

We then enjoyed the stunning views from the Belfry before visiting Hill 62 and Sanctuary Wood, where the preserved trenches brought history to life. Our final stop was the immense Tyne Cot Cemetery, a place of quiet reflection and remembrance.

After dinner, eight of our students had the honour of laying two wreaths of poppies during the evening commemorative ceremony - a respectful and moving way to end an unforgettable day.

🇧🇪 Belgium Trip - Day 2 🥾🍫

Another lovely day in Belgium with Grade 9 students!

We started the morning in Dinant, where our students took on the Alpine Challenge, working together to tackle climbing while enjoying the stunning views from the surrounding hills. Dinant is a city backed by steep cliffs with sweeping views and (fun fact) also the site of saxophone inventor.

In the afternoon, we travelled to Kortrijk for a visit to Vandenbulcke Chocolatier. Students learned about the art of Belgian chocolate making while enjoying some delicious chocolate tasting - definitely a trip highlight for many!

We finished the day back at our accommodation with sports and games, making the most of another memorable day together.

Another fantastic day in Belgium with Grade 9 students!

Grade 8 had an action-packed day yesterday, going to the Kletterpark Velbert-Langenberg and exploring the Denkmalpfad Zollverein (the old coal mine). A great mix of adventure and history!
