Trash Collection Challenge in RISS RoboLab. Grade 7 students built different designs of Mechanical Robo-Grabbers and collected different sized trash (apples , empty bottles, papers etc.).

Our first International Language & Culture Day was a huge success!
Students in Grades 6–9 celebrated languages and cultures from around the world through a variety of fun and engaging activities. From Chinese calligraphy and French games to Spanish dancing, Dutch traditions, German quizzes, and cultural showcases, the day was filled with learning, creativity, and connection.
A big thank you to all the families who contributed delicious dishes for our international pot-luck lunch. Together, we celebrated the diversity that makes our community so special.

On Thursday, Grade 9 students studying World War II and Grade 11 students who have been studying authoritarian leaders students embarked on a History and German trip to Cologne, Germany.
A guided tour of the National-Socialism Documentation Center gave them an insight into the Second World War, the effects of National Socialism on Germany and the impact of WWII on civilians.
Furthermore, a walking tour took Ms Oudman, Mr Riera, Ms Ternieden and their students to the Gothic cathedral, its awe-inspiring nave and stained glass windows, and the Pixie's fountain.

Yesterday the students from 6A began the Grade 6 garden during their RISS Rose lessons. The garden is on the Senior Campus and will produce vegetables for us to eat!

This week Grade 9 students tested mystery solutions to uncover the building blocks of life. From starch to sugars, lipids to proteins, they used chemical indicators to reveal what’s really inside. 🔍
Iodine → starch turned blue-black
Benedict’s (+ heat) → sugars changed color (green → red)
Biuret → proteins turned violet
Emulsion test → lipids formed a cloudy white solution

This week our Grade 10 Environmental Management students participated in a trip to the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden - a fitting and enjoyable conclusion to their studies right before their study leave. Throughout the visit, students engaged with exhibits that directly supported their understanding of biodiversity and ecosystems.

Grade 8 students traveled to the Goethe Institut on Amsterdam with Ms. Ternieden on Monday. They sat in the Goethe Zertifikat A1 examination: this is a certificate that is recognised world-wide, as well asan opportunity for our German learners to shine.
